¡Cuestiono la labor del Supremo
al asignar los sentidos cual don!
Pues juntarlos debió al corazón
y así eximirnos dolores extremos.

Ni vista, oído o un olfato extremo
ni el gusto ni el mismo tacto en cuestión,
valen cuando nos falta la pasión…
¡Y perdonen si sueno muy blasfemo!

El carecer de ti o de tu amor,
ese destino de estar desunidos,
¿eso no trunca la obra del Creador?

Al no verte ni escuchar tus sonidos,
sin tu aroma, contacto y tu sabor,
¿pues, qué sentido tienen los sentidos?

Questioning

I question the work of the Supreme
in assigning the senses as a gift!
For to unite them should have been to the heart
and thus exempt us from extreme pains.

Neither sight, nor hearing, nor an extreme sense of smell
nor taste nor the very touch in question,
are of no value when we lack passion...
And forgive me if I sound blasphemous!

The lack of you or of your love,
this destiny of being disunited,
does that not truncate the Creator's work?

Not seeing you or hearing your sounds,
without your scent, touch and taste,
for what is the meaning of the senses?

Este es el decimoctavo soneto de esta serie, en que el estilo va guiado por el estilo clásico de los sonetos de la literatura en español.

Escribirlos empezó como un ejercicio, pero se ha ido tornando para mí una adicción. Su belleza sonora, su complejidad en la estructura y sus infinitas posibilidades creativas, han sido la causa de este "enamoramiento" que he tenido con esta forma poética.

En este, además, me planteé el reto de empezar en orden inverso y empecé por su conclusión. Esto como manera de hurgar en el sentido de lo expresado, cuando se parte a la inversa.

This is the eighteenth sonnet in this series, in which the style is guided by the classic style of sonnets in Spanish literature.

Writing them began as an exercise, but it has become an addiction for me. Its sonorous beauty, its complexity in structure and its infinite creative possibilities, have been the cause of this "infatuation" I have had with this poetic form.

In this one, moreover, I set myself the challenge of starting in reverse order and began with its conclusion. This as a way of delving into the meaning of what is expressed, when starting in reverse order.
