This weekend I had a nice experience directing the church choir, I like the sociability that exists between musical groups, that atmosphere of unity and camaraderie is special. We start the rehearsal with a good mood, a bit of relaxation, breathing, and warming up the voice. Someone said to me: why am I feeling relaxed since we have the choir performance this coming weekend? I shared with them that it is not necessary to worry but to take care that everything goes well. Loading yourself with tension, in the end, does not help in the process. I have had the opportunity to present myself on several occasions before a large audience, and it can easily come to our minds, to fear making mistakes, or not doing it well. One must separate from those thoughts, and start thinking about what is most important. Success is in concentrating on what corresponds to you and ignoring the rest. If you focus on what others will say, it is a distracting element that generates anxiety, and fatigue, and even increases the chances that you will run away or make a mistake.
Today I bring you my interpretation with the trumpet of a song called “When We Were Young” by one of my favorite singers, Ádele. It is a Ballad, of the Soul genre, that was written together with the Canadian musician Tobías Jesso Jr. I love this song for several reasons, but the main one is its lyrics. This takes me to a future meeting with my friends that I no longer see and who are far away, in which we will tell stories of things we did together in the past. Some trips to the beach, movies we saw, walks to the mountains, karaoke evenings, meals, and games. I love Ádele because I feel that she is like the scandalous aunt of the family, but that when she sings we all fall silent. She has a powerful, in-tune voice, her style is elegant and unique. I know she sounds cruel, but every time that woman gets angry, she brings us really emotional topics, and as we Venezuelans say "Cut veins".
Everybody loves the things you do
From the way you talk
To the way you move
Everybody here is watching you
'Cause you feel like home
You're like a dream come true
But if by chance you're here alone
Can I have a moment?
Before I go?
'Cause I've been by myself all night long
Hoping you're someone I used to know
You look like a movie
You sound like a song
My God this reminds me, of when we were young
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were scared of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
I was so scared to face my fears
Nobody told me that you'd be here
And I'd swear you moved overseas
That's what you said, when you left me
You still look like a movie
You still sound like a song
My God, this reminds me, of when we were young
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young
(When we were young)
When we were young
(When we were young)
It's hard to win me back
Everything just takes me back
To when you were there
To when you were there
And a part of me keeps holding on
Just in case it hasn't gone
I guess I still care
Do you still care?
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young
When we were young
(When we were young)
When we were young
(When we were young)
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
Oh I'm so mad I'm getting old
It makes me reckless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young
