RETRO MUSIC WEEK #3/ WE SHALL OVERCOME BY PETE SEEGER/ COVERED BY SLEEMFIT✨

In line with our regular theme (retro music) i.e music from the past, I'd be performing a classic by American folk singer and social activist "Pete Seeger" called
"We Shall Overcome". We shall Overcome is a gospel song which became a protest song and key anthem of the American Civil rights movement which was then focused on nonviolent civil rights activism. It quickly became the movement's unofficial anthem, and it was being sung at rallies, folk festivals and concerts which made it widely known. The song talks about overcoming racial injustice which was a prevalent issue in the 1940's. We shall overcome has been sung several years before it became more popular by Pete Seeger who included it in his repertoire. To the best of my knowledge, the song has been performed by several activists but the most popular version recorded is by Pete Seeger, even Google proposes his name when you search for the song via its platform.

The song "We Shall Overcome" offered courage, comfort, and hope as protesters confronted prejudice and hate in the battle for equal rights for African Americans. Prejudice still happens till date around the world. The message of the song is "A world of equality". My race, ethnicity, colour,religion doesn't change who I am, It doesn't matter,we are one….let's all walk hand-in-hand. I do hope you enjoy my cover of this powerful song. 🤍&💡
