A Caribbean Grackle in the mall 🐦 Un Zanate Caribeño en el centro comercial

I want to share with you an experience I had in a shopping mall a few days ago. We went to get my daughter's glasses that I had made and we took advantage of having some ice creams, when suddenly I saw an adult bird fly above us and land on the floor in a very natural way.

The most curious of all is that the shopping center is completely roofed with large glass windows and finding a little bird flying throughout the fair was amazing for me. However, for many people it did not mean much, it was as if they were used to it.

Quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia que disfruté en un centro comercial hace unos días. Fuimos a buscar loa lentes de mi hija que mandé a hacer y aprovechamos de tomarnos unos helados, cuando de repente vi volar un pájaro adulto por encima de nosotros y aterrizar en el piso de manera muy natural.

Lo más curioso de todo es que el centro comercial es totalmente techado con grandes ventanales de vidrio y encontrar una avecilla volando por toda la feria fue asombroso para mi. Sin embargo, para muchas personas no significó mucho, era como si estuviesen acostumbrados.

That caught my attention, the bird walked on the floor looking for food such as leftover bread, fruit, seeds or others.

I got up from the table and followed his path. He went from side to side, when he saw someone approaching, what he did was divert his path and continue in his search for food. It was very strange to see him walk so much.

Estoy segura que fue de manera accidental que el avecilla entró al centro comercial y lo lamentable es que será muy difícil que ésta salga pronto. Lo más interesante es que el pajarito no se sentía temeroso, probablemente tenía varios días allí y ya estaba familiarizado con las actividades de la feria. Eso me llamó mucho la atención, el ave caminaba en el piso buscando comida como restos de pan, frutas, semillas u otros.

Me levanté de la mesa y seguí su trayectoria. Iba de lado a lado, cuando veía que alguien se acercaba, lo que hacía era desvíar su camino y continuar en su búsqueda de alimentos. Era muy raro verlo caminar tanto.

The species of bird that was in the mall is the "passerine bird", called Zanate Caribeño, or Black Thrush, as it is known in other regions.

I remember that this species has come to the patio of my house in flocks singing happily. Once, while I was in my room, I heard an unparalleled uproar of birds, it was an impressive fuss. I went out to investigate and it turned out to be a group of drones flying over a bucket full of water. I looked out to see and found a bird about to drown. I carefully took a long stick and inserted it into the bucket and managed to get the individual out. I was cautious because I know this species defends itself and I didn't want my action to be misunderstood.

According to Wikipedia the Caribbean Grackle is very gregarious, it usually feeds on the ground on insects, other invertebrates or waste. It can be very daring and daring, and comes to enter houses and restaurants in search of food. It usually attacks its possible predators in groups, such as dogs, raccoons or humans.

La especie del pájaro que estaba en el centro comercial es del "ave paseriforme", llamada Zanate Caribeño, o Tordo Negro, como se le conoce en otras regiones.

Recuerdo que esta especie ha llegado al patio de mi casa en bandadas cantando alegres. Una vez estando yo en mi habitación escuché un alboroto sin igual de pájaros, era una alharaca impresionante. Salí a investigar y resultó ser un grupo de zanates que volaban encima de un tobo lleno de agua. Me asomé a ver y encontré un pájaro a punto de ahogarse. Con cuidado tomé un palo largo y lo introduje en el tobo y logré sacar al individuo. Estaba cautelosa porque sé que esta especie se defiende y no quería que malinterpretaran mi acción.

Según Wikipedia el Zanate Caribeño es muy gregario, se suele alimentar en el suelo de insectos, otros invertebrados o desperdicios. Puede resultar muy atrevido y audaz, y llega a entrar en las casas y restaurantes en busca de comida. Suele atacar en grupos a sus posibles depredadores, como a los perros, mapaches o humanos.

It was very exciting to be able to be so close to a free bird, despite being trapped in the mall. I want to clarify that I did not chase him, I kept a safe distance to film with my camera so that he would not get scared. His eyes were wide open and despite being somewhat confident, he was also alert.

I followed him for several minutes and what surprised me the most is that he didn't take flight but walked and walked "like Pedro around his house."
It is surprising how these beautiful animals adapt to their environments, have the ability to interrelate with other subjects of other species and their strength to accept the changes around them.

For me it was a beautiful, different and unique experience, making me admire these intelligent animals much more.

Fue muy emocionante poder estar tan cerca de un ave libre, a pesar de estar atrapado en el centro comercial. Quiero aclarar que no lo incomodé, yo me mantenía a una distancia prudente para filmar con mi cámara para que no se asustara. Se le veían los ojos muy abiertos y a pesar de estar algo confiado, también estaba alerta.

Lo seguí por varios minutos y lo que me sorprendía más es que no alzaba el vuelo sino que caminaba y caminaba "como Pedro por su casa".
Es sorprendente cómo éstos bellos animales se adaptan a los ambientes, tienen una capacidad de interrelacionarse con otros sujetos de otras especies y su fortaleza para aceptar los cambios a su alrededor.

Para mi fue una experiencia hermosa, diferente y única, haciéndome admirar mucha más a éstos inteligentes animales.
