Hi Hivers today I'll tell you about a typical Tuscan tradition that I came to this weekend, the Cantaremaggio, literally singing for May, this festival is an ancient popular tradition created to celebrate the month of May and the arrival of spring, this tradition is typical of the old peasant and rural communities of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, where the month of May was important for crops and harvests and it was thought that by singing songs in honor of the month one would have abundant harvests. To date it is an event that takes place in various towns, here in Pistoia and its surroundings it is hosted every year in rotation by various mountain and hill towns during every weekend in May. To participate in this beautiful tradition we decided to go to the town of Matesca, we also had a stop near home in the town below ours but we preferred to choose a more distant town to have an excuse to visit Maresca, a mountain town once again very pretty, a town that is quite well known because it is said to have very good water and healthy air, in the summer many people rent houses here, furthermore in Maresca nothing is missing, it is a town with a small supermarket, hairdressers, baker, veterinary clinic, post offices and other activities.
