There are many Spanish rock classics, all of them marked an era and inspired ideas and emotions during the time they were in fashion. Some of them last through time continuously, others appear and disappear from the social trend, there are also those that remain in the heart of some people.
"Canción para mi muerte" by Sui Generis, is a song that a friend of mine showed me a couple of years ago, the truth is that I knew almost nothing about this musical group, since there was a time when I was not a big fan of Charly García and his story, he seemed to me a pretty grotesque and demented guy, but that changed a few months ago, when I started to listen to his music and to understand a little of what he went through. Charly lived during some political conflicts in Argentina, he was also in an asylum from which he escaped, he is the typical renegade warrior, he and Luis Alberto Spinetta share a similar story, only the latter decided to be a little more philosophical and spiritual with his music and thoughts, Charly developed in his style of great music and rock that makes you dance a little, with lyrics maybe a little more explicit of more social and common issues, but also important.
The song I bring today is from the beginnings of Charly Garcia, I have listened to some songs by Sui Generis, but this is one of the ones I like the most, that group had a pretty good style, very characteristic of the 70's, they remind me a little bit of Pink Floyd and the beatles.
Now, going back to the song as such, it has lyrics loaded with several things, it starts with an idea, which I could interpret as the explanation of the transition from being a child to an adult, as it talks about a time when there were dreams, fantasies and freedom, and how these were fading as I was growing up. The song speaks of memories and romantic desires of the author, it is like a link between nostalgia and love, certain subjective reflections and dedications to some muse.
There was a time when I was beautiful
And I was truly free
I kept all my dreams
In crystal castles
Little by little I grew up
And my love fables
Faded away
Like soap bubbles
I'll find you one morning
Inside my room
And you'll prepare the bed for two

It's a long road
When you look back
You're crossing the borders
Without realizing it maybe
Hold on to the handrail
Because before you get there
A thousand old men clung on
But they left anyway
I'll find you one morning
Inside my room
And you'll make up the bed for two
Tchu ru ru ru tchururu ru ru ruru, ru ru ru aaaaaa
I'd like to know your name
Your place, your address
And if you've been given a phone number
And also your number
I beg you to let me know
If you come looking for me
It's not because I'm afraid of you
I just want to get by
I'll find you one morning
Inside my room
And you'll prepare the bed for two

Hubo un tiempo que fui hermoso
Y fui libre de verdad
Guardaba todos mis sueños
En castillos de cristal
Poco a poco fuí creciendo
Y mis fábulas de amor
Se fueron desvaneciendo
Como pompas de jabón
Te encontrare una mañana
Dentro de mi habitación
Y prepararás la cama para dos

Quitar anuncios
Es larga la carretera
Cuando uno mira atrás
Vas cruzando las fronteras
Sin darte cuenta quizás
Tómate del pasamanos
Porque antes de llegar
Se aferraron mil ancianos
Pero se fueron igual
Te encontraré una mañana
Dentro de mi habitación
Y prepararás la cama para dos
Tchu ru ru tchururu ru ruru, ru ru aaaaa
Quisiera saber tu nombre
Tu lugar, tu dirección
Y si te han puesto teléfono
También tu numeración
Te suplico qué me avises
Si me vienes a buscar
No es porque te tenga miedo
Solo me quiero arreglar
Te encontrare una mañana
Dentro de mi habitación
Y prepararás la cama para dos
Tchu ru ru tchururu ru ruru, ru ru aaaaa (bis)
