    About :

For your viewing pleasure, here's a fly-over of Senja, with its stunning fjords and narrow roads that winds along the coastline.

The particular area we're flying over today carries a special meaning to me, as it's the area where I spent most of my childhood summers. For countless hours I've been fishing in these waters, picking the cloudberries in the marshes, ascending the mountaintops and playing on the beaches and swimming. I'll admit it's pretty absurd to now be able to visit the area virtually in this way.

If you were to travel to Senja by car from the capital Oslo, strap in for a 24 hour northbound car drive (not counting the stops to eat and sleep). Alternatively, take an airplane to the tiny military airport Bardufoss, then rent a car and drive for about 1,5 hours to get to the location where this video starts.

    Background

So, I may have bought a beast of a computer to be able to do more complex 3D renders and animations, as my competence in Blender grows. And boy oh boy, did it finally get delivered last night, after 3 weeks wait.

And as it just so happens, a super powerful graphics card and processor is โ€“ in addition to doing complex 3D stuff โ€“ also able to actually run Microsoft Flight Simulator, a gigantic piece of software that I bought almost 3 years ago, but still haven't been able to even start.

This video is my first attempt at piloting an airplane in this comprehensive simulation software, that, if you didn't already know it, contains a complete recreation of the entire Earth on a 1:1 scale(!!!).

I'm planning to many future tours like these, exploring both areas that I've already visited, and places I've never been even close to traveling to. So if you have any suggestions at all for interesting destinations, please let me know in the comments below! I may just feature your destination next.

PS: Please excuse my seemingly drunk flying at times. As it turns out, it's a lot harder to control these airplanes than it might seem at first glance, and this is literally the first time I'm ever running this software. I'll definitely need to put in some training for my future flights.
