This afternoon I was fascinated with a caterpillar. With a caterpillar?! You might think.

But yes, and it's not that I haven't seen many before, in fact, at home there is a silverware that houses many of them.

But my joy was due to one important fact. I know, in the little I have analyzed them, that they locate high places, that they walk a good distance and there they prepare to make their metamorphosis.

    How long does it take?

It is something relative, because I have not seen many in this beautiful process of creation, in fact, it has been a little more than 4 hours, and since it placed its body down, it has not yet changed its skin.

And yes, I had lunch away from home, close to her to see if I could record the moment and share it, but so far, only she is in the same position as 2 hours ago.

I know that not all of them reach the process of making their cocoon, in fact, I have seen a reasonable amount of caterpillars that were practically half way through their transformation, but they didn't make it, I don't know if it was the weather or another factor.

Did you know that not all caterpillars are herbivores?

Some of them eat dead animal waste, so not all of them are cute, or so they seem.

On the other hand, some of them are a bit dangerous, so touching one of them could result in an infection or swelling due to the venom they have as a defense system.

On the other hand, I take good care of this caterpillar, in fact, there are several at home, and I do that, because they end up being Monarch butterflies, yes, although they are from North America, many of them visit us in South America.

And right now, there are a variety of butterflies that have been visiting us. So it is my turn to appreciate their visit.

I hope you like the pictures, I took them with the sole purpose that you can enjoy the beauty of it.
