    Caramba

    (Otilio Galíndez)

    Caramba, mi amor, caramba,
    lo bello que hubiera sido
    si tanto como te quise
    así me hubieras querido.

    Caramba, mi amor, caramba,
    pasar este invierno triste
    mirando caer la lluvia
    que tantas cosas me dice.

    Caramba, mi amor, caramba.

    Caramba, mi amor, caramba,
    las cosas que nos perdimos,
    los chismes que solo escucho
    entre las piedras del río.

    Caramba, mi amor, caramba,
    el viento con las espigas,
    aroma de caña fresca
    y amargos de mandarina.

Hola Friends of Hive and the Villa De Cura community. Here I am, once again with you in this Festival of Traditional and Folkloric music of Villa de Cura in its week #16.

I bring you a beautiful song by composer Otilio Galindez, "Caramba".
It is a Venezuelan dance and is one of the most popular songs of this composer.

As for Otilio Galindez, he is a Yaracuyan with an extensive musical and compositional tradition. His influence probably comes from his incursion in the Orfeon Universitario, where he shared with great musicians such as Inocemte Carreño, Antonio Estévez, Modesta Bor, among others.
The Christmas parrandas were his stage, where he premiered more than one of his beautiful and well known aguinaldos: Luna decembrina, dime si es pascua, la Restinga, and many others that we still sing during the Venezuelan Christmas season.
His songs are in the mouths of many Venezuelan singers: Cecilia Todd, Familia José Gonzalez, and many more. We also find adaptations and choral arrangements of many of his songs.

Here I leave you the lyrics

    Caramba

    (Otilio Galíndez)

    Caramba, my love, caramba,
how beautiful it would have been
if as much as I loved you
as much as you loved me.

Oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love,
    to spend this sad winter
    watching the rain fall
that tells me so many things.

Oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love.

Gee, my love, gee, gee, gee, gee, gee, gee, gee, gee, gee, gee
    the things we missed,
the gossip that I only hear
between the stones of the river.

Oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love, oh, my love,
the wind with the ears of corn,
    aroma of fresh cane
    and tangerine bitters.
