Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 174 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is Beacon of Light. Now that could mean a literal source of light like a real beacon (Gondor Calls for Aid!) or a Lighthouse, I also see the phrase “Beacon of Light” as something or someone to have faith in and keep you strong no matter what, even in the hard times. The opening lines to the song I have chosen are:

“When the road gets dark, and you can no longer see, just let my love throw a spark (of light? 😊) and have a little faith in me…”

That seems to fit the theme to a T! The song “Have a Little Faith in Me” was written by John Hiatt, but it is such a beautiful song that people like Jewel, Bon Jovi, Joe Cocker and Mandy Moore have all covered it.
