Hive Open Mic Week 133 / Remedy (Guitar Cover) by @fernanblog

Hello friends of Hive and my Hive Open Mic family, I'm Fernando Benedetti from @fernanblog; for me it's an immense pleasure to be here for another week sharing music with all of you. This week we will be honoring the Opportunities...

First I must tell you that this week was a little chaotic for me, so much so that today I'm just showing up; during the course of these days my computer has had failures due to the recent heavy rain and lightning strikes that caused power outages, besides that 2 of my 3 guitar cables were damaged which delayed me to record. Before that I had a plan B which was to sing, but it turns out that I started to feel bad and had discomfort... in short, I do not know how I could manage to be here today hahaha ... the good thing is that I could solve the sound of the guitar to bring my participation.

This theme chosen by the great @sekani, made me automatically remember how were the months before entering Hive. We were in full lockdown by the pandemic, there was much uncertainty and I had 2 years without making music, I'm honest, I had given up with it even though before leaving it I was in guitar lessons and vocal technique when I arrived in Medellin, but before that I had several years without approaching the musical scene...

I had already resigned myself regardless of the fact that I brought my guitars with me, however, the days of confinement reawakened my interest in music. In view of the fact that in that difficult time we had worldwide, led us to the excessive use of social networks, I decided to create an Instagram account for musical content; the 1st video I uploaded just in 2020 and it was a guitar cover of one of my favorite metal bands of the early 2000's, a very cool band called Cold.

That's how I started to make myself known and upload covers weekly, the truth is that seeing that I had acceptance and receptivity with my videos, that motivated me a lot and gave me the opportunity to return to music as it is one of my greatest passions, better said, the main one and it was the best thing I could have done because thanks to it, my mind was very distracted, even while I had covid, in turn it served me as therapy to deal with the panic we had regarding what was happening.

As a tribute to that decision I wanted to do for you the cover of the song Remedy from the band I mentioned, the song from that 1st video I uploaded to Instagram. Remedy belongs to Cold's 3rd studio album called "Year Of The Spider" released in 2003 and it was one of the best albums of the moment, taking the band to the weekly tops of MTV channel where they got the necessary fame to be listened all over the world.

The message I want to convey to you with this experience is that having taken up music in that way, started an important path that later brought me to Hive; if I had not done that, I would not be here enjoying with you; in a few words, we must believe in our talents and not give up since at some point the opportunity we always dreamed of to succeed may appear.

Hola amigos de Hive y de mi familia Hive Open Mic, soy Fernando Benedetti de @fernanblog; para mí es un inmenso placer estar otra semana más compartiendo música con todos ustedes. Esta semana le rendiremos honores a las Oportunidades…

Primero debo comentarles que esta semana fue un poco caótica para mí, tanto así que por ello hoy apenas me presento; durante el transcurrir de estos días mi computadora ha presentado fallas debido a que recientemente llovió fuerte y cayeron rayos que provocaron apagones eléctricos, aparte de eso 2 de mis 3 cables para guitarra se dañaron lo que me retraso para grabar. Ante eso tenía un plan B que era cantar, pero resulta que me empecé a sentir mal y tenía malestar… en pocas palabras, no sé como pude lograr estar aquí hoy jajajaja… lo bueno es que pude solucionar lo del sonido de la guitarra para traerles mi participación.

Esta temática elegida por la grandiosa @sekani, me hizo recordar automáticamente de cómo fueron los meses antes de entrar a Hive. Estábamos en pleno encierro por la pandemia, había mucha incertidumbre y yo tenía 2 años sin hacer música, les soy sincero, me había rendido con ella a pesar de que antes de dejarla estuve en clases de guitarra y técnica vocal cuando llegué a Medellín, pero antes de eso tenía varios años sin acercarme al medio musical…

Yo ya me había resignado independientemente de que traje conmigo mis guitarras, sin embargo, los días de confinamiento hicieron que se me despertara nuevamente el interés por la música. En vista de que en ese momento tan difícil que tuvimos a nivel mundial, nos llevó al uso excesivo de las redes sociales, me decidí a crear una cuenta de Instagram destinada a contenido musical; el 1er video lo subí justo en el 2020 y fue un guitar cover de una de mis bandas preferidas de metal de inicios del 2000, una banda muy genial llamada Cold.

De esa manera empecé a darme a conocer y a subir covers semanalmente, lo cierto es que al ver que tenía aceptación y receptividad con mis videos eso me motivo mucho y me di la oportunidad de retomar la música ya que es una de mis pasiones más grandes, mejor dicho, la principal y fue lo mejor que pude haber hecho porque gracias a ella, mi mente estuvo muy distraída, incluso mientras tuve covid, a su vez me sirvió de terapia para enfrentar el pánico que teníamos con respecto a lo que ocurría.

Como tributo a esa decisión quise hacer para ustedes el cover de la canción Remedy de la banda que les mencioné, canción de ese 1er video que subí a Instagram. Remedy pertenece al 3er álbum de estudio de Cold llamado “Year Of The Spider” lanzado en el año 2003 y fue de los mejores álbumes del momento, llevando a la banda a los tops semanales del canal MTV donde obtuvieron la fama necesaria para ser escuchada en todo el mundo.

El mensaje que les quiero transmitir con esta experiencia es que el haber retomado la música de esa manera, hizo que se iniciara un camino importante que luego me trajo hasta Hive; si no hubiera hecho eso, no estaría aquí disfrutando con ustedes; en pocas palabras, debemos creer en nuestros talentos y no rendirnos ya que en algún momento puede aparecer la oportunidad que siempre soñamos para triunfar.
