NOTE: when listening, music is ALWAYS so much better with headphones/earbuds. My suggestion! hehehe
From the first time I crossed paths with him, I knew I was gonna totally dig him for as long as he'd let me hang around!
Life on Hive is weird, because people come and go, go and come - and you are blessed if you get to stay connected as the fabric of our paths intersect, intertwine, tangle, unravel, and sometimes fray. Ed is one of those that I'm managing to keep a steady eye on, through the weaving of this Master Tapestry.
Ed and me? We are singers. Musicians that are in love with music. His style is... hmmm imagine that you're having the laziest, dreemiest nap in a hammock on the beach. Sipping a sweet and sultry cocktail. Sweat slipping into the secret valleys of sun-baked skin. Wisps of wind swirling round as you languidly lounge.
A long time ago, he mentioned wanting to duet with me, and I felt like I was Cinderella at the Ball! When people tell you that you sing well, it's a huge compliment. But when a singer tells you then want to duet with you - it's the height of honor! I immediately agreed - but what song? how?? He lives in France. I'm in California. I don't have the best equipment - and it's so much better to jam naturally!
We tried a few times to do it - but we couldn't make the connection. I didn't want to keep forcing, and risk mangling the match! So we agreed to just wait until it happened naturally.
Thanks to @angryman apparently requesting this song from Ed again (THANK YOU @ANGRYMAN - YOU MADE THIS HAPPEN!!!) I happened to hear him singing it today for the first time And immediately knew - this is our song!!! hehehe
I would have normally asked permission FIRST to take this song and manipulate it. But since it was a surprise- hahaha And since he DID say he wanted to... I'm asking permission NOW @edprivat for the ability to add my voice to yours (What's that saying - asking for forgiveness later is better than asking for permission before? hahaaha i normally NEVER do that - but you know... surprises. I think they are the exception to the rule! LOL)
NOTE TO ED: I SO wanted to go back in and edit a bit more. Wanted to adjust and be softer in some places, stronger in others. Heard a few notes where my harmony clashed a bit with your guitar and fought the urge to go back in and tweak!! LOL I'm 100% certain that when I was adjusting the tracks I had you at 90%. My first harmony at about 70% and the second harmony at about 60%. But when I rendered it and dropped it into the video editor - everything sounded at the same level!!! So... I guess this is what happens when I surprise someone!! 😁 You know how it is when you go back and sing and sing and sing... you risk losing that fun, impromptu, raw, candid version? It might sound more "perfect" but sometimes that's too much polish - you know? so.... here it is. on the raw side - but all heart! hehehe
I'm NOT sure when we can do it again - cuz your repetoire so much more varied than mine and I never want to mess up what you do so easily... but... who knows. Maybe you'll have another song that I MUST sing with you. hehehe
*and then, we'll do it again? *
Our duet version is the 3speak version listed at the top!... but...
If you want to see THE ORIGINAL version of Ed on his own - please run HERE AND CHECK IT OUT!! You will not be disappointed!!! ❤️
