Lessons from the Garden: hold on

Back in the garden for the another lesson and this one is a special one to me.

I remember my dad used to chase us around the house, teasing that he was going to catch us... and we would be clever enough to get something between us (like the dining room table) and just continue to maintain that distance. hahaha

He would fake left - we would start running opposite. He would double back and we would take off in the other direction.

But I remember him telling us to never give up.

He kinda would do these crazy things to us at times LOLOL like - simulating "what if" situations and then we didn't have time to THINK.

He wanted us to FEEL that panic, because that would be what we would feel if someone ever grabbed us. You know? They don't say "Hey, I'm going to come after you now, so you better run." They just come after you - and you have to react.

It wasn't always a "live or die" scenario hahaha Sometimes it was just as simple as running around that living room table, and keeping pace with Dad - and the thing is... we had youth on our side.

Sometimes we let our MINDS get the best of us. We see an adult - coming after us - and we think, "ughhhh surrender!!!".

We quit - BEFORE we should.

We give up - BEFORE we realize that we have enough in us to continue - and possibly even triumph!

You don't need to announce the failure before you know the ending.

What do you have to lose if you just keep trying, just keep hoping, just keep pushing, just keep running?

You just might win.
Never give up - cuz there might be a second wind right around the corner.
