Greetings Foodies
Back in late December, a new Asian buffet restaurant opened in my area here in Glenrothes. I was pretty excited by this, we don't really have decent restaurants here so when something new opens I feel compelled to check it out.I got a chance to visit it recently and I figured it would make for an interesting post.
The lunch buffet is available from 12-2pm and cost's £9.99.The dinner menu is available from 4-8pm and costs £14.99. On this trip, I went for the lunch menu which I felt was incredibly good value.
This shot shows the decor which is pleasant and inviting.
The art on the walls is certainly aesthetically pleasing.
The starters on offer are mostly of Indian origin, with various pakoras, chat and chicken wings. My favorite of these was most definitely the haggis pakora which I don't believe I have tried before,it is the one on the far left of this shot.
The starters are so tasty I could easily fill up on these alone.
To accompany the starters there are various sauces, poppadoms, and prawn crackers available.
This is my heaping plate of starters, in most restaurants, this would probably cost most of the £9.99 just for this plate.
Moving on to the main course we have dishes from China, Thailand and Japan served first.
This course consists of various curries , sweet and sour dishes and Thai noodle dishes.
We also get the Chinese takeaway style of chips which I can't get enough of .I don't know what kind of oil these chips get fried in,it is likely the same oil used for some of the starters so they are packed full of flavor.
Im not a big fan of sushi but there is some on offer for those that enjoy it.
This is my Chinese /Thai-inspired plate, looking back at it now Im surprised I ate it all especially after eating all those starters.
There are 2 types of rice on offer, yellow pilau which is the one I prefer, and white basmati.
The nann bread selection consists of plain, chili or garlic and coriander flavors.I love a bit of garlic and coriander so that's the one I chose this time.
This selection of dishes is Indian and Nepalese inspired. The curry of the far left is of South Indian origin and was the only one that was really spicy.
There are also the classic and always popular chicken Korma and chicken tikka dishes available. The Korma here was fantastic,I would go back here again just for this dish.
This was my third and final plate, again looking back it is pretty amazing that I managed to eat 3 full plates of food on this visit.
I even had some room left in my stomach for a couple of scoops of ice cream.
My dad tried this dessert which is fried dough, kind of like the dough used to make doughnuts, its covered in golden syrup. I didn't try it on this visit but it does look tempting.
After dinner chocolate mints with the bill is always a nice touch
Overall Im glad we have a place like this within walking distance of my house. It is right next door to our local cinema and not far from a Wetherspoons pub which are famous for there incredibly well-priced alcohol.
Im sure I will get around to revisiting this place soon to try there £14.99 dinner menu.I am curious to see if they offer different dishes in the evening.
