Greetings Gamers
In this video and post I'm taking a look at the character creation process on the VGOE emulator project.
For more info on this project, you can go here https://vgoemulator.net/
The game offers the player the choice of 19 different races and 15 different classes.
Each race has its own starting area and classic lore and roleplay-heavy storylines and quest areas. The races here are heavily inspired by classic high fantasy such as Tolkien's Middle Earth , the works of G.R.R Martin and Dungeons & Dragons.
The game world of Telon is made up of 3 large continents.
The first of these 3 continents is Thestra. This area is inspired by classic European medieval high fantasy.
The races we find here are Thestran Humans, Dwarves, Halflings, High Elves, Vulmane ( Wolfmen) Varanjar Barbarians (Inspired by Viking Culture), and Half Giants.
I currently have a lv 13 Dwarven Cleric and a Level 6 Varanjar Barbarian Warrior on Thestra, its the continent I have seen the most of so far and I must say it is VERY impressively designed.I like the idea of trying out the Vulmane race next.I would likely make one of these guys a Druid or Ranger.
The second continent is Kojan which is an archipelago inspired by South East Asian cultures. This area is home to Kojani Humans, Wood Elves, Half-Elves,Orcs,Goblins and Raki (A Fox like race)
So far I have only played a Goblin Sorceror to level 3 on Kojan.I found the Goblin starting area to be very well-designed and a lot of fun to play through.I will show some of that area pretty soon.
The third continent is Qualia, a desert continent inspired by Middle Eastern /Arabian Nights culture. This land is home to Qualithari Humans, Gnomes, Dark Elves , Kurashasa (Cat People) , Mordebi Humans and Varathari (Dohtraki-inspired Barbarian Horse lords)
I haven't created a character on Qalia yet but I like the idea of checking out the Kurashasa starting area.I'm curious to see if their symbiotic armor racial ability is in the game.I like the idea of creating a Thundercat/Spiderman/Venom inspired character.
It seems this game doesn't have any race/class restrictions. You are free to pick what you want but some race/class combinations work much better than others making for much easier PVE solo gameplay.
The classes are separated into 4 archetypes
Protective Fighters:
Warriors
Paladins
Dread Knights
Offensive Figters:
Rangers
Rouges
Monks
Bards
Healers:
Cleric
Shaman
Disciple
Bloodmage
Casters:
Sorceror
Druid
Psionicist
Necromancer
In the video above I create an Orc Shaman and send him to the Isle of Dawn starter area.
The Isle of dawn is part of the Kojan archipelago so it has a very eastern/Chinese/kung fu movie feel to it which I love. This is the streamlined and recommended starting area for new characters to learn the game. Everything on the Isle is fully implemented into the current emulation project.
The Isle of dawn is one large seamless area with no zones and 2 dungeons. Players can reach level 10 here, gear up, and learn about crafting and diplomacy before heading on to their racial continent.
In the video above I do the initial quests here and talk to the first 2 Npcs. I plan to make a few more videos detailing this Asian-themed starting experience pretty soon.
For now let's end the post here.I am loving this emulation project so far. It has a lot to offers fans of the classic MMORPG genre.I plan to test many of the race/class combinations and starting areas over the coming weeks and months.
Hopefully some of you other HIVE gamers will jump on board and play around with this. It's easy enough to get set up. The player count seems to range from only 12 - 24 right now. It would be great to see more folk jump on board from this community, we could start a HIVE gamer guild :).
