It's week 161 of the #openmic. And the theme of the this initiative is "My Original Song".

I'd like to point out I have no original songs of my own in my repertoire. I'm not that kind of musician. However, k admire those who are able to compose. Whether it has lyrics or not, the idea of expressing your ideas through sound is a beautiful thing. No words can describe it. Even song with lyrics powerful emotions that can make you cry or feel ecstasy.

So, I did my best to choose an original song. This one's title is "El Sancocho" (Soup). Its from one of our renown composer of traditional music, Gualberto Ibarreto. It's also my shortest cover since I'm quite sick at the moment but managed to put this recording together.

I hope you enjoy it. The lyrics of the song tell us about how to make a soup in the tradition way it is made in the eastern side of the country. Very interesting and didactic for this who might thing making a soup means throwing stuff into a pot with water.

Volvemos escenario del #openmic para la semana 161. En esta ocasión, el tema a explorar es sobre canciones originales en el sentido de composiciones propias.

Debo mencionar que no tengo canciones propias en mi repertorio. No es una de las cosas que entienda en mi proceso musical. Sin embargo, admiro a quienes pueden hacer eso. Componer con letra o sin ella es una virtud musical increíble. Ser capaz de tocar los corazones son las palabras dichas al ritmo de la música. Poder hacer expresar una idea sin palabras, solo el desarrollo de una línea melódica. Son cosas que admiro muchísimo.

Así que hice lo mejor que pude para escoger una canción original. He aquí una titulada "El Sancocho". Es un tema de Gualberto Ibarreto, uno de los baluartes de la tradición musical en el oriente del país. También es mi cover más corto porque estoy enfermo por los momentos.

Espero que lo disfruten. Si Han escuchadoa canción, sabrán que su letra hace referencia a todo el proceso de hacer un sancocho (sopa). Una buena pieza de información didáctica para aquellos que creen que hacer esto es solo lanzar cosas en una olla con agua.
