Via Crucis at Camari Hill | Lenten Tradition

Hello folks! Sharing our community's tradition every Good Friday of the Lenten Season.
In our barangay in the Philippines, we have a hill that is named as Camari Hill, where there sits a giant cross erected through the leadership of the previous priest of the parish in Calidngan Carcar City where Camari Hill is situated. It has been a tradition that every Good Friday parishioners will do the station of the cross, being the giant crucifix standing on top of the hill as the last station.

Years passed by, Camari Hill has become a shrine of God the Father and Our Lady of Fatima after some religious sponsors gifted donations to the previous parish priest Rev Fr Ver Pedrano.

Growing up, I have been practicing the tradional station of the cross together with my family, as a sacrificial walk every Good Friday dawn, except during the pandemic when the parish decided not to do the Station of the Cross for safety purposes.

Moreover, because of the perfect location of Camari Hill, I'd love visiting there even not having the via crucis but to unwind and pray. I even remembered visiting there and praying to pass my scholarship exam for college which thankfully, I passed! Together with my best friend, Meah, we sometimes visit the hill together, too. It's not only us, but some other people too, the hill has a perfect location that will show a good view of the neighboring barangay, so it became a nature park, as well.

After sharing photos and videos of the place in social media, it went viral and people in the neighborhood visited the hill, too, many took awesome photos specially with sunrise and sunset. It has a scenic ang photogenic background, too having the neighboring mountains as the background. There is a spot on there as well that is great to pitch a tent for a camp which me and my cousins have tried before.
