Over the past decade, much was made about stock buybacks. Companies used cheap money to finance their purchasing of stock. Many call this financial engineering since it is what allows for an increase in the EPS.
Many C-level executives received stock bonuses based upon these results.
In this video I discuss how we are starting to see the reverse: companies are now selling stock which will have the reverse effect. 2020 could see more shares issued than were bought back.
