We are seeing the era of space kick off. This will surprise some, especially Americans who believe this started in the 1960s. While there was a historic moment, the landing on the Moon, outside the emotional factor, it really did little to advance our cause.
Like most technological ages, it takes a while to build up to "blast off". For space, we saw a lot of decades of minor progress. Now, as the cost to get a pound of material into space is plummeting, we are enter a new era what space will have a profound impact upon our advancement.
In this video I discuss how this is much bigger than just space tourism or sending a few people to the ISS.
