This is another tune I recorded for our local group's online open mic. When I was still at school I had classical guitar lessons and did up to grade 5. I have not done much of that style since, but now and again I like to play a piece. This is one I learnt back then, but I probably have not played it in a few years. I do not have the fingernails for classical picking and my right hand has nerve damage that does not help.
My old guitar teacher lived in a converted chapel that he renamed Lobos Villa in honour of this composer.
The guitar is a Yamaha C40. I dad took up the guitar some years ago and let me have this one when he upgraded. I had sold my classical many years ago.
The recording process was not ideal. I used my MXL90 condenser microphone, but I really had to turn up the gain to get a decent signal and then it distorted a bit. I ended up extracting the audio and boosting it in Audacity. It seemed to be clipping at less than the full range.
I am wondering if a small diaphragm condenser would be better. There are some on my Zoom H4, so I may try that next time I record this guitar. Any tips are welcome.
I make a few mistakes, but I wanted to play it in one take.
