Hola querido hiver.

Sigo con mi serie de publicaciones relacionadas con las fiestas patronales de mi ciudad. Esta vez me hace mucha ilusión compartir estas fotografías porque me toca tan de cerca que vas a ver a algunos miembros de mi familia.

Si cada 12 de octubre la ciudad de Zaragoza ofrece flores a su patrona, la Virgen del Pilar, al día siguiente se cede el protagonismo al folclore tradicional que le lleva los frutos de la tierra. Te explicaré con más detalle en un post futuro, pero como resumen rápido te cuento que se trata de un desfile de los diferentes grupos asociados a otras regiones del país, cada uno vestido con sus trajes tradicionales.

De los 74 grupos que participaron este año hay uno que tiene atrapado mi corazón, y ese es el Hogar Extremeño. La razón es que mi madre procede de un pueblo de esa región y en él transcurrieron mis vacaciones de infancia y juventud, hasta que mi abuela ya no pudo vivir sola y tuvo que venirse a Zaragoza con sus hijas.

Te imaginarás la emoción que siento cada vez que aparece ante mis ojos el estandarte del Hogar Extremeño, señal de que voy a ver de nuevo símbolos importantes que me han acompañado en la vida. Eso de que la sangre tira es cierto. Cuando he conocido a otras personas que proceden de allí de inmediato siento una comunión especial con ellas.

Un elemento que llama la atención y que siempre se asocia con Extremadura es este sombrero. Es típico de Montehermoso y antaño indicaba si la joven que lo llevaba estaba soltera o casada, por un espejo que tiene al frente y que se mantenía entero o roto.

Este personaje se llama Jarramplas y sale cada mes de enero en Piornal. Mientras toca su tambor los vecinos del pueblo (más todos los que se apuntan de fuera) le tiran toneladas de nabos.

Este año participó como invitado el grupo de coros y danzas de mi pueblo. Qué ilusión me hizo ver su nombre y escudo desfilando por las calles de mi ciudad en un acto tan importante. Ya casi no conozco a ninguno de los que vinieron, pero me emocionó igual ver a todos ellos.

Las hermanas de mi madre y mis primas son parte del Hogar Extremeño. Como ves, ya están pasando el testigo a las nuevas generaciones de la familia. Ellas mantienen esta tradición de desfilar y mis padres y yo de verlas pasar. Siempre las piropeamos y les gritamos lo guapas que están, jeje.

Termino este reportaje con un video en el que puedes escuchar y ver bailar una de las canciones extremeñas más tradicionales. Las voces que se oyen al final son las de mi madre y mía. 😁

Hi, dear hiver.

I continue with my series of posts related to the fiestas patronales of my city. This time I am very excited to share these pictures because I am so close to them that you will see some members of my family.

If every 12th October the city of Zaragoza offers flowers to its patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar, the following day the protagonism is given over to the traditional folklore that brings her the fruits of the earth. I will explain in more detail in a future post, but as a quick summary it is a parade of different groups associated with other regions of the country, each dressed in their traditional costumes.

Of the 74 groups that participated this year there is one that has captured my heart, and that is the Hogar Extremeño. The reason is that my mother comes from a village in that region and I spent my childhood and youth holidays there, until my grandmother could no longer live alone and had to come to Zaragoza with her daughters.

You can imagine the emotion I feel every time the banner of the Hogar Extremeño appears before my eyes, a sign that I will once again see important symbols that have accompanied me in my life. It is true what they say about blood. When I have met other people who come from there, I immediately feel a special communion with them.

A striking element that is always associated with Extremadura is this hat. It is typical of Montehermoso and in the past it indicated whether the young woman wearing it was single or married, by a mirror in front of it, which was kept whole or broken.

This character is called Jarramplas and goes out every January in Piornal. While he plays his drum the villagers (plus all those who join in from outside) throw tons of turnips at him.

This year the group of choirs and dances from my village took part as a guest. What a thrill it was to see their name and coat of arms parading through the streets of my town in such an important event. I hardly know any of the people who came, but I was just as excited to see them all.

My mother's sisters and my cousins are part of the Hogar Extremeño. As you can see, they are already passing the baton to the new generations of the family. They maintain this tradition of parading and my parents and I watch them go by. We always compliment them and shout at them how beautiful they are, hehe.
