Hive-Naija (Ibadan) Update

Before I go into today’s update I want to update the community on some of the changes in regards to the hive-naija meetup. Initially, we were supposed to have 3 meetups in 3 different locations in Nigeria simultaneously, but after much deliberation, we have decided to have two, in Port Harcourt and Ibadan.

The Lagos meetup has been cancelled due to the low turnout (which is surprising). Most of the registered participants are either in school or not in town. We will work towards something else for Lagos before the end of the first quarter of the year.

Currently, we have 14 registered participants for the Ibadan meetup, namely:

So far, Ibadan meetup has the highest number of participants (thankful). Ibadan and Lagos’s budget for the meetup (from the hive-naija account) will be combined. So we are looking at $55 for Ibadan and $45 for Port Harcourt. @young-boss-karin will be responsible for the disbursement of funds as she is in control of the account.

The hive-meetup is scheduled for 12:00 pm at the Agodi Gardens (Please you have to be registered to attend). We have a list of fun activities lined up: chess, scrabble, cards, paintballing (that will cost about 2,500 per person–if you are interested). There is also a plan to create a short video ad for hive/hivenaija.

We are also calling out to other members to support the meetup in whatever capacity.

Twitter Space.

So on Wednesday, I will be hosting my first Twitter space session tagged: WHAT IS HIVE? The goal is to have as many hivians (most from Nigeria) tell their success stories on hive. The following accounts have shown interest and will most likely speak on that day:

I am looking forward to having as many people join the Twitter space. It will go a long way in creating the desired buzz around hive and also the hivenaija community.
