Una Aventura Nostálgica en el Decanato de Ciencias y Tecnología de la UCLA

Comencé a estudiar en la UCLA hace 8 años, esta es la universidad más importante del centro occidente de Venezuela. Es irónico, hace 8 años la UCLA era un espacio distinto a lo que se muestra en este video, las realidades han cambiado y la libertad por la que tanto luchó busca prevalecer a pesar de la realidad que existe en el país. Cuando comencé a estudiar en el Decanato de Ingeniería Civil, a unas pocas cuadras de este decanato, todo brillaba, no era perfecto; sin embargo, era otra cara. Este decanato, este espacio verde, tiene momentos únicos de mi vida, aunque no era exactamente donde tenía clases oficiales, mi vida acá estaba determinada en las horas que caminaba desde el DIC (abreviatura del Decanato donde estudio) hasta el comedor, lugares en donde veía clases de cálculo, o clases se preparaduria universitaria.

¡En este inmenso lugar está una parte de mi vida! Lo vuelvo a repetir, no era mi lugar oficial de estudio, pero me reunía con mis compañeros de clase a estudiar en ciencias con preparadores o algún otro profesor. También me sentaba en alguno de los lugares a esperar que las horas pasaran, o simplemente estudiaba mientras miraba la naturaleza. Cuando comencé a estudiar en la UCLA sabía que el periodo para obtener mi título de Urbanista estaría en el rango de tiempo de 7 a 10 años sin que me quedara una materia. La universidad, en aquellos momentos, luchaba, el tema de la autonomía estaba siendo socavado y los presupuestos recortados. Aun así, había muchas personas que estaban aquí.

La crisis, el contexto del país, la economía, el sistema estructural del Estado y la pandemia hirieron las universidades de toda Venezuela. Una herida mortal, pero aun así llegará el momento en donde vuelvan a brillar. Ahora, los jóvenes que llegan no vienen con los mismos pensamientos, ahora comprenden que lo más importante es seguir y mantener las convicciones que caracterizan a la UCLA. Sí, esa que se erige bajo el lema de la voz del pensamiento.

En esas calles, en esos corredores, en esas estructuras de concreto y esos viejos autos oxidados que vez en este video está la historia de un país, está la historia de un joven con miles de sueños y también está la mía.

Este video es un pequeño preámbulo, uno que cuenta algo finito de un recorrido que causa nostalgia y en donde se ve el lado de una de las Universidades del País que resiste a morir. Espero que disfrutaras de este video, te leo en los comentarios.

I started studying at UCLA 8 years ago, this is the most important university in central western Venezuela. It is ironic, 8 years ago UCLA was a different space than what is shown in this video, the realities have changed and the freedom for which it fought so hard seeks to prevail despite the reality that exists in the country. When I began to study in the Civil Engineering Dean's Office, a few blocks away from this dean's office, everything was shining, it was not perfect; however, it was another face. This dean's office, this green space, has unique moments of my life, although it was not exactly where I had official classes, my life here was determined in the hours that I walked from the DIC (abbreviation of the Dean's Office where I study) to the dining room, places where I saw calculus classes, or university preparatory classes.

In this immense place is a part of my life! Again, it was not my official place of study, but I used to meet with my classmates to study in science with the preparators or some other professor. I would also sit in one of the places and wait for the hours to pass, or just study while looking at nature. When I started studying at UCLA I knew that the time period to get my degree in Urban Planning would be in the range of 7 to 10 years without a course left. The university, at that time, was struggling, the issue of autonomy was being undermined and budgets were being cut. Still, there were many people who were here.

The crisis, the context of the country, the economy, the structural system of the State and the pandemic wounded universities all over Venezuela. A mortal wound, but still the time will come when they will shine again. Now, the young people who arrive do not come with the same thoughts, now they understand that the most important thing is to follow and maintain the convictions that characterize UCLA. Yes, that one that stands under the motto of the voice of thought.

In those streets, in those corridors, in those concrete structures and those old rusty cars that you see in this video is the history of a country, is the history of a young man with thousands of dreams and there is also mine.

This video is a small preamble, one that tells something finite of a journey that causes nostalgia and where you can see the side of one of the universities of the country that resists to die. I hope you enjoyed this video, I'll read you in the comments.
