Little Bloke's First Bike

Christmas is always a magical time filled with joy, laughter and the warmth of family. This Christmas was particularly special for our family or more so my three year old son who got his first bike for Christmas. He’s been asking for one for some time now and although he has a scooter and one of those small tricycle things to learn on. It just isn’t the same.

I can not explain the excitement leading up to Christmas knowing that we had a bike for him hidden. I remember when we got little miss her first bike and the pure joy in her face and I knew that little bloke would be the same.
Christmas morning finally arrived or more so, little bloke didn’t go to bed because he wanted his presents. So I made a deal with him that he could have one only. His mum took him outside to distract him while I ran upstairs and got the assembled bike that I had hidden in the spare bedroom wardrobe.

As our little one re-entered the home the sparkle in his eyes was enough to light up the entire room. The vibrant blue bike stood at the end of the hallway and little bloke ran right to it with total excitement. Although, he was a little upset as he wanted a Spider Man bike. Oh well dad, next year!

His eyes widened, and a radiant smile broke across his face as he touched the bike and automatically wanted to try it!. The room echoed with his delighted squeals, creating a symphony of pure joy that resonated through our home. As parents witnessing our child's unbridled happiness was a gift in itself and it’s exactly what the meaning of Christmas is!

Eagerly the next day despite the storms we guided him outside to the wetlands a serene and picturesque place that he loves to often walk around. It’s been quite humid lately and the wetlands are only newly completed this year but they are still quite beautiful.

The excitement in the air was contagious as we prepared for this special journey adjusting his tiny helmet and ensuring the training wheels were sturdy.

Proud parents we once again revelled in this milestone capturing every moment with our cameras to immortalise the magic of his first bike ride. Although I once again feel like I am losing my little buddy but His sister also went through this and now we often ride together and soon he will too.

Christmas had truly come alive this year for our kids and although we didn’t have much money this year, we nailed it with the right gifts for both of the kids and that’s all that really matters at the end of the day.
