On Wounded Wings

Birds getting inside our house is something we experience every now and then. Most of the time we just let them find their way out. Sometimes, we make fun of them and chase them out to an exit, either through the door or window. Today is a different story.

This lovely creature was flying short and low around the sala. It struggled to get out through the closed windows then slipped to the floor. I went to open the window nearest to it and backed off. It did not fly away from me. I just thought it is somehow tamed and used to people being around. I thought it would happily fly away through the open window but it did not. I picked it up without the sense that something could be wrong. I was just thinking of feeding it before I let it free. I tried to feed it with rice but it was ignoring my offer. Then I noticed blood on my palm. The little creature has wound!

I dropped Agua Oxigenada on two spots of the left wing. I brought it out to the terrace with the rice I was feeding it with the hope that it would peck a few grains before going free. Unfortunately, it was gone in just about two seconds from when I let it loose. It was struggling on the neighbor's roof when I finally let go of my watch. I hope the wounds heal fast.

What bird is this? One of my nephews saw my post on FB and said it looks like a Martinez, the one that can be trained to speak human language. Is it?
