Anastasia es una película de animación, no fue producida por Disney sino 20th Century Fox, la película animada esta basada en hechos reales, se inspiró en la gran duquesa Anastasia, una de las hijas del zar Nicolás II y de la emperatriz Alejandra de Rusia. La historia trata de una niña llamada Anastasia que sufrió una amnesia que le impedía recordar que ella era parte de los Romanov, la dinastía de zares que murió durante la Revolución Rusa de 1917.

Diez años después, su abuela la Emperatriz Marie Feodorovna ofrece una recompensa de 10 millones de rublos a quien encuentre a su nieta Anastasia. Dos estafadores llamados Dimitri y Vladimir desean tomar el dinero de la anciana realeza buscando una “doble” de Anastasia.

Finalmente, ambos descubren a la perdida Anastasia, quien se reúne con su abuela y lucha contra el hechicero Rasputín, quien deseaba acabar con ella. Rasputín es destruido y Anastasia inicia un romance con Dimitri, dando un final alegre a la historia.

Un dato curioso algo que no nos cuenta la película es que durante el baile celebrado, el pueblo ruso se moría de hambre y estaba bajo el régimen represivo del imperio, es decir, bajo el mandato de la familia de Anastasia.

En la historia real, los Romanov no eran para nada queridos por el pueblo. La madre de Anastasia era repudiada por su carácter frívolo y por tener ascendencia alemana, sospechaban que Alejandra era una espía de aquel país.

Thalía interpetró el tema Viaje Tiempo Atrás para la película Anastasia versión en español del tema original Journey To The Past, tema central de la película, en el que hacemos un viaje a nuestros orígenes, buscando respuestas a las preguntas que nos conforman como personas. Buscar sin recordar, recordar sin pretenderlo, y hallar la vida que alguien le arrebató.

In real history, the Romanovs were not at all loved by the people. Anastasia's mother was repudiated for her frivolous character and for having German ancestry, they suspected that Alejandra was a spy from that country.
