So a buddy of mine whom had been working on this action/adventure RPG game for the past year or so, just finally rounded up all the necessary coding, animatics, and other perks for his game. And so now, with just a couple other things such as music/soundtrack, character voicing, sound mixing, and special effects left to chip in, I was humbly bestowed the task of helping score the original soundtrack(OST) for the very low budget sophisticated video game.
Now to be frank, I don't really have that much experience when it comes to composing game music, however, I do know my way around composing music for orchestra. Most likely why I got the job(Fun fact: He's not paying me to do this °_°)
So basically, I've only been able to score about 4 minutes out of the entire 200 minutes gameplay! I know.... I know....crazy right??? But thankfully, I'm not the only one working on it. We're about 15 of us composer buddies working on the OST actually. So, if my math is correct, that's about 13 minutes of individual OST time for each of us to compose. Not too shabby. And with the deadline on February of next year, I say I have plenty of time!
Heck, if work doesn't kill me, I could finish this shit off by Christmas!
Interestingly enough, I've actually already started working on my share of the soundtrack. Inclusive of the three other's you'll hear in the video, I'm basically done with the Loading Theme, The Palace of Garthon Theme, The Sea Dragon Theme, and Terak's Theme. And considering how I just started writing them 2 months ago, I'd say I'm going at a pretty good pace.
Anyway, enough small talk, let's talk about the OSTs in the video shall we?
Alright, so this one I most definitely need to go remaster because there's just way too much wavering and imbalance in the audio.
Oh well, Forest Theme is one of the main OSTs that repeat itself through out the game(especially in Chapter 3). And considering how the forest is basically the Terak's(the MC) home point.. yeah, you're definitely gonna be hearing it a lot in the game.
To be honest... I think I'm gonna redo the whole thing again. To me, it just doesn't sound that memorable you know?... Like, it just sounds a bit too..... over the place. Yeah, it oughta be a bit more catchy!
But hey, you guys tell me what you think!...
Anyway, it was scored for:
So this one I had fun making. Essentially, the Jhambali tribe are these fierce ancient soldiers of the realms, whom are descendants from the great Orcs gods. They are known for their violent, ruthless, and beast like way of life and culture. Their only pet peeve – War.
The OST was scored for:
LoL not gonna lie, had a bit of a toughy with this one. I mean, just how the hell should Main Menu's music sound like for crying out loud! I mean, I mean.... it's not like it's elevator music or something!
Anyway, after many trials and errors, I ultimately decided to go with something more relaxing. Because at the end of the day, you can't go wrong with relaxing music!
I mean, just listen to Genshin Impact's Main Theme!
Nevertheless, the OST was scored for:
So that's all for now y'all. Hope you enjoy the music.
Also, I'm curious as to how these pieces smell @grindan😏
