This week, Hive Open Mic encourages us to explore the theme 'MUSICAL IDOL'. After seeing the theme, I decide to record one Rihanna's medley song I found on Youtube.
I like the way the three songs were merged together in that instrumental track. It started with Take a bow, and then Diamond, and finally Umbrella.
The medley didn't really contain all the tracks, but the highlights which I think was nice.
Some parts were comfortable for me to to while some other parts weren't so comfortable. As someone who really loves good music and singing, and always wants to improve my skills, one big challenge I am still working on is making the "transitions" between the different songs smooth and natural.
I feel that if I am able to fix that, then I would definitely be able to comfortably sing songs that I love.
Mastering vocal transitions is something I am really focused on and practice a lot. I know if I can nail those transitions, it will allow me to fully bring alive the songs I love to sing in a polished, professional way. It will let me control my voice and adapt it flawlessly as the music changes.
I am determined to keep working hard on my singing transitions until I get them perfected. Even though it is a difficult skill, I won't give up because I know how important it is. Developing polished transitions is a crucial next step for taking my singing ability to an even higher level.
With more concentrated practice, I am confident I can smooth out those spots where I get hung up when switching between songs. My goal is to eventually be able to transition naturally so that the audience cannot even notice a change happened within the medley. Smooth transitions will allow me to bring unity and flow to any group of songs I want to perform together.
