I've now lived abroad for 10 years, from Panamanian islands to the icy streets of Kyiv I've thrown coconuts on the ground.
I'm thankful I took that leap out of my geographic comfort zone into the great unknown and saw the world, pursuing beauty and adventure, because the world has changed and not for the better. Vaccine passports, social distancing, and the impact of the COVID pandemic/plandemic on small tourist-serving businesses around the world (which are the lifeblood of any city's culture), make the romantic #lifestyle I led a thing of the past, I fear. We now live in a poorer, angrier, less vibrant, more suspicious world - I hear that people now wear facemasks while salsa dancing, that's just not right!
You'll note from the photos that I do not appear to have aged in this decade during which I drank deeply of the cup of life. Might those coconuts be anti-aging ambrosia?
As much as the digital nomad lifestyle fed my voracious appetite for novelty, I did grow tired of it and am happily now a "digital stay-putter." I also feel like I "sold the top," by settling down and committing to one woman when I did. That I have not regretted once!
