Hello brothers and sisters, We are Indonesia Bersatu, a Punk Rock band from the city of Medan, Indonesia. Today the three of us played with recorded tracks. So, the weekly event #openmic has now entered its 162nd week with the theme Be Okay. This theme was chosen by our best friend and highlight artist of the week @maryjacy. This is a cool and interesting theme, so we brought you a cover song called Rencong Marencong. I don't know the meaning of the title of this song, but the lyrics of this song are in Indonesian. This song was written by the band Marjinal, a punk rock band from Jakarta.
When I first heard this song, I felt that I had the strength not to be sad if it was swept away by a storm, when I was sick, or when I was covered in cold. The song greets everyone and asks how they are doing. In my opinion, this song is intended for people who have been deprived of their rights, for people who have been arrested for no apparent reason, for those who are struggling to survive amidst the law of the jungle where the weak will lose to those who have power, beaten because they are accused of heresy by peoples whose lives are filled with suspicion, and for those who are helpless. Hopefully, people whose conditions are as mentioned above will be fine and able to survive in increasingly difficult living conditions.
In making this song, we only used acoustic guitar and electric bass. Recorded on a track using our cheap soundcard and a laptop that often has errors. With the Adobe Audition software which is downloaded for free from an unofficial site, then connecting the soundcard and musical instruments, we can record this song just like in a recording studio. Please understand if the results are not as clear as a recording studio, because I don't know much about sound editing. I hope you all enjoy it. Below, are the song lyrics and their translations;
Hei bagaimana kabar kawan-kawan
Apakah baik kondisimu disana
Kami disini sedang bernyanyi kawan
Akan senandung lagu rindu tentang kamu
Yang ada di timur, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang ada di barat, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang ada di utara, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang ada di selatan, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang ada di gunung, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang di sebrang lautan, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang di kota-kota, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang di desa-desa, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang dibalik tembok, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang dikolong jembatan, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang dipasar-pasar, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang dijalan-jalan, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang tersapu badai, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang terbakar matahari, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang terbujur sakit, bagaimana kabarmu
Yang berselimut dingin, bagaimana kabarmu
Kurindukan selalu untuk dirimu
Semoga kau disana bersahaja slalu
Rencong marencong, rencong marencong
Hey how are you guys
Are you well there
We are here singing friends
hum a song miss you
The one in the east, how are you
The one in the west, how are you
The one in the north, how are you
The one in the south, how are you
The one on the mountain, how are you
The one across the ocean, how are you
The ones in the cities, how are you
The ones in the villages, how are you
Behind the wall, how are you?
Under the bridge, how are you?
Those in the markets, how are you?
The streets, how are you
The storm-swept one, how are you
Sunburnt, how are you
Those who are sick, how are you?
The one covered in cold, how are you
I miss you always
I hope you are humble there always
Rencong marencong, rencong marencong
Thank you for watching and listening to our cover song. I hope you all like the music and the message contained in this song. The place where we recorded this video is at a coffee shop owned by our friend, which is located on Jl. Light, Medan. This video was recorded using a mirrorless camera and edited using Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe Audition software. That's all we can say today, I hope you stay healthy and keep your spirits up. Regards.
