    About :

In this video, we will show you how to make a simple Chicken Soup and its alternative ingredients.

Chicken Soup or Tinolang Manok is a healthy dish, it’s easy to cook and one of my comfort foods. I remember my Nanay (mother) will always cook this dish every after bad weather or during rainy season in the Philippines because it will make your body warm and away from colds.

Do you know that Chicken Soup is an excellent source of protein? Yes, indeed. Our muscles rely on amino acids in order to build, repair and develop; therefore eating chicken soup (which has high protein contents) can help to keep our muscle healthy. Not only that, it is also a good source of Vitamin B3.

    INGREDIENTS
1 whole chicken (cut it into 10 pcs)
    1 stalk spinach
    3 pcs red chilli
    1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1.5L water (you can pre boil the water to save time)
    1 whole onion (crushed)
    1 head garlic (crushed)
    Ginger (crushed)
    30ml fish sauce
    2 tbsp of cooking oil

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Heat oil in a pot.
    2. Saute the garlic, onion and ginger for 3-5 minutes (wait until the onion gets soft).
    3. Add the chicken and saute it with garlic, onion and ginger. Mix it well altogether.
    4. Add 30ml of fish sauce and continue to saute, cook it for about 5 minutes or until the chicken turns light brown.
    5. Pour the 1.5L of water, let it boil. Cover and then set the heat to low. Simmer for about 20-30mins.
    6. After 20-30 mins, do a taste test. You may add in, 1 tbsp of fish sauce and a pinch of salt to taste.
    7. Since we got no hot pepper leaves, we put 3 red chillies and then add in the spinach. You may add in papaya slices for better taste and to give the authentic Filipino Style of cooking. However in our case, papaya is unavailable so we stick to spinach. Continue to cook for about 3 minutes.
    8. Once done cooking, transfer it to a serving bowl and serve.
    9. For best condiments, you can prepare 1 tbsp of fish sauce and calamansi.
    10. Share and enjoy!

By the way, when eating this Chicken Soup or Tinolang Manok, make sure you have cooked more rice than the usual as this let you crave for more especially its soup aroma.

Then, I normally put more soup on my rice whenever I ate this and give it a good slurpy sound.
How about you? Do you eat this same way I do?
