Hello dear community of Hive Music, today I bring you a Cover of the song "Gracias a la Vida" which I recorded yesterday Saturday December 10th, especially to share it through our great network. My user is @geronimamunoz.
In this opportunity, I dedicate this song that is very meaningful to me, "Gracias a la Vida" of the singer, Chilean folklorist, composer and guitarist "Violeta Parra", born in 1917 and died in 1967. She was a woman of great trajectory, known nationally, Latin American and part of the world. Somehow, she has remained in the hearts of many people.
It is worth mentioning that the singer-songwriter recorded the song Gracias a la vida in 1966 and part of this song in 1967. It is said in some bibliographies that she took her own life, due to economic problems and for having a sentimental life of extreme sensitivity. He made trips representing his country and left a wonderful testimony in his works enriching the folkloric cultural area of his country.
According to material deposited in the National Library of Chile, "Violeta also reflected the evolution of popular song through the different spaces in which the artist had to develop", through radio programs as a plastic artist, researcher, singer and poet.
On the other hand, I decided to version the present Cover with the typical instrument of my country "El Cuatro" as a contribution to our community and to invite other performing musicians who can mount Latin American themes and musical diversity as another resource, through the Venezuelan cuatro.
Today I was sharing with my students of Canto Popular of the School of Music "Lino Gallardo" at the Centro de Arte Los Galpones, located in Caracas, Los Dos Caminos and they accompanied me to record it, my surprise was that at the end of the song they all applauded, it was great, I explained to them that I was working from the enjoyment for my current venture through Hive. I was very interested and at the same time pleased, some of them were surprised that their singing teacher was venturing into this wonderful 3.0 network, I loved it and I wanted to share it with you.
GRACIAS A LA VIDA
AUTORA: VIOLETA PARRA
Graba noche y día grillos y canarios
Martillos, turbinas, ladridos, chubascos
Madre, amigo, hermano, y luz alumbrando
THANKS TO LIFE
AUTHOR: VIOLETA PARRA
Thanks to life, which has given me so much
It gave me two stars, that when I open them,
I can perfectly distinguish black from white,
and in the high sky, its starry bottom,
and in the crowds, the man I love.
Thanks to life that has given me so much
It has given me the ear which in all its breadth
Records night and day crickets and canaries
Hammers, turbines, barks, squalls
And the voice so tender of my well beloved
Thanks to life that has given me so much
It has given me the sound and the alphabet
With it, the words that I think and declare
Mother, friend, brother, and light illuminating
The path of the soul of the one I love
Thanks to the life that has given me so much
It has given me the march of my tired feet
With them I walked cities and puddles
Beaches and deserts, mountains and plains
And your house, your street and your courtyard
Thanks to the life that has given me so much
Gave me the heart that shakes its frame
When I look at the fruit of the human brain
When I look at the good so far from the bad
When I look into the depths of your clear eyes
Thanks to the life that has given me so much
It has given me laughter and it has given me crying
So I distinguish joy from sorrow
The two materials that form my song
And the song of you that is the same song
And the song of all that is my own song
