Hello everyone welcome to another episode of Hive Learner's Creative Sunday Initiative with George Dee. Every Sunday, members of the Hive blockchain share awesome creative ideas in the Hive learner's community and it is always fun. I always enjoy learning and sharing a lot of creative ideas just like I am doing today.

For today's entry to the Hive Learner's Creative Reative Sunday Initiative, I tried Chicken Shawarma at home for the first time and the outcome was awesome.

We were two craving for Shawarma over the weekend and after considering the recent increase in the price of that yummy snack, I decided to see if it's something I can prepare myself and it's easy except for the fact that I have to take a class for the wrapping.

Shawarma is a snack which I believe that everyone here is familiar with. Although, it's not something I crave always but whenever I do, eating it is the only solution to it.

    Immediately I made up my mind to try it by myself, I set out to get the recipes and they are;

    Shawarma bread
    Chicken
    Mayonnaise
    Cabbage
    Chili powder
    Sausage
    Ginger
    Onions
    Seasoning cubes
    Salt
    Groundnut oil

All these ingredients cost less than $3, I actually have a few of them at home and the exact figure I spent was $2.5.

The procedure is quite easy, it doesn't take much time as long as you know what you are doing and have all your ingredients ready for use.

    Preparation.

I started with cleaning all the recipes first, it's very important because eating a good meal without proper hygiene is terrible and it's nothing different from eating rubbish.

After cleaning, I went on to prepare in full.

    • I cut the chicken into smaller sizes and cooked it with seasoning, ginger and onions.

    • While it was cooking, I quickly cut the cabbage as well into very small pieces.

    • After cooking, I fried the cooked chicken and sausage in very little quantity of Groundnut oil.

    • Since the oil was little, I had to move the Chicken and Sausage around in the frying pan until everything was properly fried.

    Mixing The Filling

    • I turned the cabbage into a bowl and added a good quantity of mayonnaise before mixing them thoroughly.

    • I added the chilli powder and the chicken followed. I mixed very well again until they all blended well into each other.

    Wrapping

I honestly didn't know it would be difficult to wrap but at succeeded with it even though I still need to learn how it is done.

    • I opened the bread into two and laid them on each other on a tray. I spread the filling on the middle of the shawarma bread, placed two sausages on it separately and spread more filling on the sausage.

    • I rolled the shawarma bread from one end to the other and set it aside. I also repeated the process for the second shawarma.

    • After wrapping, I placed the two pieces of shawarma on the frying pan and let it heat for a minute. An oven would have been better but there was no electricity so if you have an oven, just turn on the heat a little and put the shawarma in it.

    • I had my shawarma ready and it was really delicious for my first try.

I used a little more than half the price I would have bought the shawarma even though I spent $2.5. I have more than half of the Shawarma bread and Mayonnaise left and it would still serve me for another round of shawarma, I just need to store them properly.
