La pasada noche mientras estaba sentado en la parte trasera de mi casa, me encontré a este aninal.

Acá en Venezuela lo llamamos rabipelado, este es un mamífero marsupial, ésta especie llega a medir hasta 50 cm de longitud, se parece a una rata, tiene el hocico puntiagudo y una cola prensil larga y desnuda que usa para trasladar a sus crías; este aninal es nocturno y omnívoro.

Es familia de la zarigüeya, también se le conoce por calatrupa, carachupa, tlacuache, raposa, rabipelado, runcho, tacuazín, chucha o fara; asimismo chucha orejinegra, tlacuache sureño, zorrochucho, zorro cola y si es hasta impresionante

Los rabipelados no son animales peligrosos, son pacíficos como pueden observar en el vídeo este se encontraba muy asustado y sin embargo, están siendo amenazados a veces corren el riesgo de que los ataquen al ser confundidos con ratas o como es muy común por aquí, para comérselos.

Este animal hizo aparición a eso de las 11pm y pues ya luego de grabarlo y par de fotografías los perros notaron su presencia y empezaron a ladrar, por lo que tuve que usar una palo y poco a poco hacer que huyera hacia una parte con más vegetación, por su seguridad y la de mis perros.

Last night while sitting in the back of my house I came across this aninal.

Here in Venezuela we call it rabipelado, this is a marsupial mammal, this species can measure up to 50 cm in length, it looks like a rat, it has a pointed snout and a long and naked prehensile tail that it uses to carry its young; this aninal is nocturnal and omnivorous.

It is family of the opossum, it is also known by calatrupa, carachupa, tlacuache, raposa, rabipelado, runcho, tacuazín, chucha or fara; also chucha orejinegra, tlacuache sureño, zorrochucho, zorro cola and if it is even impressive.

Rabipelados are not dangerous animals, they are peaceful as you can see in the video this one was very scared and however, they are being threatened sometimes they run the risk of being attacked when they are mistaken for rats or as it is very common here, to eat them.

This animal made an appearance around 11pm and after filming it and taking a couple of pictures the dogs noticed its presence and started barking, so I had to use a stick and little by little make it flee to a part with more vegetation, for its safety and that of my dogs.
