It was a great time listening to great teaching from bro Eli. A lot of lessons were learnt and I just want to share few from the lessons.
There are things we can do though not commanded to do but they are good
Isaiah 1:19 KJV
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
God's reward is good for those that are willing.
Numbers 30:2 KJV
If a man vow a vow unto the Lord , or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.
In the Bible, there is what they call vow.
The apostles also made vows.
Acts 18:18 KJV
And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
For us not to do anything wrong anymore, we can make vow.
Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 KJV
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. [5] Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
When you make a vow, make sure you redeem it.
2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give ; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Tithing is not a commandment of Christ.
Jeremiah 30:19 KJV
And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
Thanksgiving is a vow done by men voluntarily.
Hebrews 13:15-16 KJV
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. [16] But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Thanksgiving, voluntary contributions are what we voluntarily. Also fasting, contributing in church, giving to the needy and so on.
There are many reasons for us to give thanks.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
In everything, we should learn to give thanks.
