La música es parte de mi existencia todos los días despierto con música y si no canto a viva voz, escucho diferente géneros como ritmos latinos y baladas, aun así mis favoritas son los cantos medicinas y las músicas tradicionales de mi país que gozan de una rica diversidad rítmica y melódica sin igual.

Music is part of my existence every day I wake up with music and if I don't sing out loud, I listen to different genres such as Latin rhythms and ballads, yet my favorites are the medicinal songs and traditional music of my country that enjoy a rich rhythmic and melodic diversity without equal.

Para este concurso les interpreto Pueblos tristes un tema de Otilio Galindez compositor, músico y poeta venezolano nacido en Yaracuy - Yaritagua en 1935 ya en 2009 trasciende; querido y conocido por sus canciones de aguinaldos, valses, serenatas, bambucos y joropos entre otras, siendo su música interpretada por infinidad de cantantes nacionales e internacionales como Pablo Milanés, Mercedes Sosa y Silvio Rodríguez.

For this contest I interpret Pueblos tristes a theme by Otilio Galindez composer, musician and Venezuelan poet born in Yaracuy - Yaritagua in 1935 already in 2009 transcends; loved and known for his songs of aguinaldos, waltzes, serenades, bambucos and joropos among others, his music being performed by many national and international singers such as Pablo Milanés, Mercedes Sosa and Silvio Rodríguez.

Hace dos años con un grupo de amigos músicos y aficionados COMO YO nos dedicamos a ensayar y tocar parrandas, aguinaldos y algo más, decidiendo revivir nuestra tradición decembrinas, visitando hogares de algunas allegados donde compartimos momentos especiales llevando alegría y espíritu navideño, con ellos valoré aún más la música de Otilio Galindez reconociendo en sus temas mi infancia, adolescencia y adultez con cantos de cuna y amor, también cantos que hablan de alegrías y nostalgias de nuestro pueblo.

Two years ago, with a group of musician friends and fans like me, we dedicated ourselves to rehearse and play parrandas, aguinaldos and something else, deciding to revive our tradition of the decade, visiting the homes of some friends where we shared special moments bringing joy and Christmas spirit, with them I valued even more the music of Otilio Galindez recognizing in his songs my childhood, adolescence and adulthood with lullabies and love songs, also songs that speak of happiness and nostalgia of our people.

Durante esas tertulias una amiga interpreto PUEBLOS TRISTES al escucharla me conmovió tanto que entre sollozos evoque la decadencia que en mi País vengo viendo y sintiendo desde hace un gran tiempo gracias al declive económico, político y social, y hoy visualizado en la pandemia, que nos abruma y pareciera algunas veces no haber salida más que quedarnos en la pena. Vi como si pasara sobre mi Venezuela querida una gran devastación donde la gente se aferra a los recuerdos… A pesar de esa nostalgia el tema también me inspira a ver la posibilidad de surgir al contemplar la naturaleza presente con el esplendor de la luna y su grandeza que invita a revivir con su energía suprema, y los que sobrevivimos tenemos la posibilidad de sobreponernos para establecer una nueva vida... Quedo en admiración de la belleza musical de este compositor que con sencillez describe los amores y alegrías de la vida.

During those gatherings a friend played PUEBLOS TRISTES (Sad Towns) and listening to her moved me so much that between sobs I evoked the decadence that in my country I have been seeing and feeling for a long time thanks to the economic, political and social decline, and today visualized in the pandemic, that overwhelms us and sometimes it seems that there is no way out but to stay in sorrow. I saw as if a great devastation was happening over my beloved Venezuela where people are clinging to their memories... Despite that nostalgia, the theme also inspires me to see the possibility of emerging when contemplating the present nature with the splendor of the moon and its greatness that invites to revive with its supreme energy, and those of us who survive have the possibility to overcome it to establish a new life... I remain in admiration of the musical beauty of this composer who with simplicity describes the loves and joys of life.
