patriarchy

A power structure in which men are dominant.

Patriarchy isn't upheld by just men. As a society, men a gradually made to believe that they are supposed to dominate every environment they find themselves. And while this has lead to some advantages as a group it has brought about an inability to for some men to cope with not being dominant. These men pay the ultimate price (with their lives) as a result of this unhealthy cultural beliefs.

The suicide rates for men have been higher since time immemorial. 3.5 times higher in other countries. BUT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT IN NIGERIA THE SUICIDE RATES ARE VERY SIMILAR.

The fact that most of the men who commit suicide are divorced and recently unemployed is proof that the ideology the society gives to men gives them few options.

It's a do or die. If you fail in life, your life is not over.

Rock bottom is a good place to build a good foundation. Cry like a bitch and pick your bitch self up and work again.

In addition to this most societies do not see it as normal for men to openly complain about their issues.

So while women can go to Oprah Winfrey's show and complain and be validated. Men complain to Jack Daniels. And when Jack says jump, you jump and when he says hang, you hang.

Go to your shower, turn it on and let down tears where nobody will see you or hear you.
