This is the first time I have had such an experience with an octopus in total freedom. I had never filmed one of these specimens so closely or with the naturalness and friendliness that this octopus had with me.
I was watching fish when suddenly I perceive that something is overtaking me on my right side; I was a little scared, because I was not expecting it, but I relaxed when I saw that it was a young octopus swimming so calmly by my side.
He passed me and hid for a few seconds in the posidonia meadow, at which point I react and start recording with the GoPro camera.
The octopus was not afraid at all and he looked very confident and calm; he even seemed to enjoy my presence and didn't mind showing me where he was going to hide until the night.
If you look closely, he lost a leg from a bite of some big fish but will fully regenerate it in a few months.
These animals are impressive and one of the smartest on the planet. They deserve a lot of respect.
The recording is not of excellent quality because, as you can see in the video, there was a lot of swell and poor visibility.
