Ok. In the last episode of beats by beez I made a beat and I knew that what was lacking was the lyrics. I had made that beat in accordance to how I was feeling about the state of Nigeria. So, in this one, I have decided to add the lyrics.
I had to do everything on my phone because I don’t have a microphone or any professional recording devices. I am sure future beats would sound a lot better.
Here are the lyrics
Yeah
It’s a song about Nigeria
I just want to tell you how I feel about this place
Even though I was born here, I feel I don’t belong
Everyday I wake up and stand to wash my face
Its like I had a nightmare that lasted so long
It’s like a very bad movie, scripted very poorly, only to be cast so very perfectly
Everyone is running around in search of daily bread
Only to be caught in a loop that they have all been fed
What would oyu do?
Would you join them in this activity?
No
I say to myself
CHORUS
I’m walking away
Going somewhere sane
I’m walking away
Don’t want to be the same
I’m walking away
I’m tired of the pain
I’m walking away
I’m tired of the pain
I’m walking away
Fighting corrupt individuals making stupid policies
That is not even the beginning
Because you have to find a way around the evil policing that could sometimes metamorphose into armed robbery
Bad roads, no power, no fuel, but na we get oil pass, who we dey bobo
Bloodshed, riots and killings, but na we pray pass, who did this to us?
We keep going around in circles having our hopes dashed again and again in pieces
We cry and shed many a tear, but we are very very quick to dry it outta our eyes
Corruption is a celebrated legacy
Stealing and killing is an envious fantasy
Many people stand up for their rights but they soon realize that their right is just a rite that could be washed away.
It’s like a beautiful flower that soon withers under the hot sun.
So once again I tell myself this
CHORUS
I’m walking away
Going somewhere sane
Walking away
Don’t wanna be the same
Walking away
I’m tired of the pain
Walking away
This place is inhuman
Walking away
Maybe all the pain will wane
Walking away
No more running on this lane
Walking away
I don’t care about the fame
Walking away
I might just bow my head in shame
I’m walking away
Children can no more go to school
Because ASUU doesn’t want to be called a fool
Working for so long at teaching with nothing tangible to show for it
Every year, we hear of tha national budget
But at the end, we no dey see the work for the gadget
E be like sey na debt dem just dey use am buy
How long would we stand and watch praying things get better
End sars came, dem decide to protest
Government quickly put some of them to rest
It wasn’t long before the others realized that this is not a test.
So I’m walking away.
PS:
I did some free styling and because I couldn’t do a proper timing from my phone the lyrics may sound disjointed. I promise to make the next one better.
Thanks for listening.
