Ayer pude ver el partido entre el Real Madrid y el Shakhtar por la fase de grupos de la Liga de Campeones. Estos 2 equipos estaban en primera y segunda posición respectivamente, por lo que era más o menos un partido para definir cuál iba a tomar el primer lugar.

El Real Madrid era claramente el equipo favorito de los 2, y el hecho de que fueran capaces de lograr una victoria no debería sorprender a nadie. Lo que fue realmente sorprendente, al menos para mí, fue ver al Real Madrid perder oportunidad tras oportunidad de gol durante todo el partido. No estoy exagerando cuando digo que el partido podría haber terminado fácilmente 5-1 o incluso 6-1. El Real Madrid creó un número tan masivo de ataques, que solo marcar 2 goles parece demasiado poco.

Ha pasado un buen tiempo desde la última vez que vi al Real Madrid dominando un partido sin piedad como lo hizo durante los primeros 39 minutos. Estaban destruyendo por completo al Shakhtar, y parecía demasiado fácil para ellos, sin embargo, los partidos de la Liga de Campeones rara vez son fáciles. Cuando el Shakhtar marcó su gol ese minuto, a los 39 minutos, las cosas cambiaron y el dominio del Real Madrid nunca fue el mismo.

Incluso hubo períodos durante el partido en los que shakhtar podría haber empatado el resultado, habría sido injusto en mi opinión, pero podría haber sucedido. Yesterday I was able to see the match between Real Madrid and Shakhtar for the Champions League group stage. These 2 teams were in first and second position respectively, so it was pretty much a match to define which one was going to take the first place.

Real Madrid was clearly the favorite team of the 2, and the fact they were able to achieve a victory shouldn't surprise anyone. What was really surprising, at least for me, was to see Real Madrid missing goal opportunity after goal opportunity throughout the entire match. I am not exaggerating when I say the match could have easily finished 5-1 or even6-1. Real Madrid created such a massive number of attacks, that only scoring 2 goals seems like too little.

It has been a good while since I last saw Real Madrid dominating a match to ruthlessly as they did during the first 39 minutes. They were completely destroying Shakhtar, and it seemed like too easy for them, however, Champions League matches are rarely easy. When Shakhtar scored their goal that minute, the 39-minute mark, things changed and Real Madrid's dominance was never the same.

There were even periods during the match when Shakhtar could have tied the result, it would have been unfair in my opinion, but it could have happened. I believe Real Madrid's strikers really need to work on their aim because missing so many shots will only make things harder in the matches to come. They really need to be more effective.

This weekend we will be having more national league matches, and the Champions League will be back next week with more exciting matches.
