Instead of just making the usual announcement post about the show tonight, which starts in an hour and a half on MSP-Waves, I thought I would make it more fun. I spent some time making a fun little meme video poking fun at STEEM, but on a serious note, maybe it's time to have the talk. In my humble opinion, I feel like we've reached the point where it's time to collectively just let STEEM die.
I know a lot of people are trying to "extract maximum value from STEEM," but we should probably consider that any time we use that chain we are validating its existence. Maybe I'm just being a HIVE maximalist here, but I think we have to look at this as a war, and the easiest and most peaceful way to win this war is to just deprive the other side of resources.
If we think of our content as the resources that a blockchain like HIVE or STEEM needs to have a purpose and we stop giving or sharing that content with the "enemy," then we are essentially weakening its position. The longer users are cross-posting legitimate content, the longer the other chain has a purpose. If you simply want to farm auto-votes while powering down, it can be done without sharing genuine content or anything other than a single character on a post.
Ultimately we all have to make our own decisions, and I made mine when HIVE launched, but I hope all of you that are passionate about HIVE and want to carry on the mission of building this community and growing the platform will at least consider what I'm saying. Best wishes to all of you in however you choose to proceed. Much love.
