Hello friends,

For years, my mother and I have been taking care of a stray cat in the village, and over the years, especially in exchange for food and affection, she has tamed her character to the point where she is now easily petted even by strangers.

Taming an adult cat was a complicated task at first, but with perseverance and a lot of time I managed to achieve this fascinating situation.

However, it is not the fascinating fact of nature that I want to highlight, but how this cat behaves when she is pregnant and after giving birth in order to raise her offspring.

Pregnant

Catalina, as we call her in the family, spends many hours of the day lying in the garden at the back of the house when she is pregnant.

I think she feels safe in this garden because she knows we don't have a dog and the neighbours' dogs are very difficult to get at, and we always feed her some chicken skin and also croquettes for cats.

When she has given birth

When Catalina gives birth, she usually disappears for a few days because, for some reason I don't know yet, she prefers to give birth in another part of the village where she thinks her kittens will be more protected.

However, after three or four weeks, when the kittens are bigger and the demand for mother's milk is greater, she brings them to our garden to introduce them to the community.

This time she brought four females, although one of them is very elusive and I can't get a good picture of her, so this picture with three of the cats is the best I could get of the new kittens.

Yesterday afternoon, with the appropriate precautions not to upset the kittens too much, I decided to capture the less suspicious kitten and take her to get some cow's milk.

At first the kitten was very frightened, but when she saw that the mother was nearby she soon understood that what I was doing was to supplement her diet.

This morning, as if I were already her second mother, the kitten was not at all frightened when I approached the four cats and let me catch her again.

This time, however, I tried to give her some of the potato broth that we are having for lunch today, as you can see in the video. She loved it.

For all these reasons, where "wild" cats are treated with respect, without causing them stress and with a good reward in the form of a family, I can say that nature is fantastic.

Hola amigos,

Desde hace años, en el pueblo, cuidamos mi madre y yo de una gata callejera que con el paso del tiempo y sobre todo a cambio de comida y afecto fue amansando su carácter hasta el punto que es fácilmente de acariciar incluso por extraños en este momento.

El hecho de conseguir amansar a una gata adulta fue una tarea complicada en los primeros pasos, pero con perseverancia y mucho tiempo conseguí esta situación fascinante y gratificante.

Sin embargo, este no es el hecho fascinante de la naturaleza que quiero resaltar, sino como actúa esta gata cuando está embarazada y después de parir con el objetivo de sacar adelante a su prole.

Preñada

Catalina, que es el nombre que le hemos dado en la familia, cuando está embarazada se pasa largas horas del día acostado en el jardín que tenemos en la parte de atrás de la casa.

En este jardín, creo que se siente segura, porque sabe que no tenemos perro y los perros de los vecinos tienen muy difícil el acceso y a su vez siempre le damos de comer alguna piel de pollo y también croquetas para gatos.

Una vez ha parido

Catalina cuando da a luz, suele desaparecer un par de días ya que por algún motivo que aun desconozco prefiere parir en algún lugar diferente del pueblo donde cree que están mas resguardados sus gatitos.

Sin embargo, cuando pasan tres o cuatro semanas, los gatitos se hacen ya más grandes y la demanda de leche materna creo que es superior, y entonces es cuando los trae a nuestro jardín a presentarlos ante la sociedad.

En esta ocasión ha traído cuatro hembras, aunque una de ellas es muy esquiva y no consigo sacarle una foto en condiciones, por lo que esta fotografía con tres de las gatas es la mejor que he podido sacar de los nuevos gatitos.

En la tarde de ayer, con las precauciones oportunas de no alterar mucho a los gatitos, decidí capturar a la gatita que tiene un carácter menos desconfiado y llevarla a comer un poco de leche de vaca.

Inicialmente, la gatita tenía mucho miedo, pero al ver que estaba la madre en las proximidades pronto comprendió que lo que estaba haciendo por ella era completar su alimentación.

Hoy en la mañana, como si ya fuese su segunda madre, la gatita no se asustó nada al acercarme a las cuatro gatas y me dejó capturarla de nuevo.

Sin embargo, en esta ocasión probé a darle un poco de caldo con patata que tenemos para el almuerzo de hoy y como podéis ver en el video. Le ha encantado.

Por todas estas razones, en la que unos gatos "salvajes" al ser tratados con respeto, sin provocar estrés y dándoles una buena recompensa en forma de familia, puedo decir que la naturaleza es fantástica.
