Buen día, mis colegas músicos y amantes de la música en general. Volvemos al escenario del #openmic con una versión nueva de un cover que hice por allá en la semana 70. Me refiero al vals "Anhelante" de José "Pollo" Sifontes. Esta es una pieza hermosa. Algo digno de ser dedicado.

En su letra se hace la mención de un amor no correspondido y de esperar a que pase algo o no, pero el anhelo siempre está ahí. Algo muy parecido a ese amor de los caballeros de las leyendas del Rey Arturo.

Mi conexión con esta canción y el tema de esta semana, Gloria, viene dada por ese sentido de victoria que surge de poder hacer una versión solista de un tema que previamente había grabado con 4 instrumentos. Es la gloria del músico superarse a sí mismo en lo que hace. No digo que este cover sea mejor o peor que el anteiror, pero al tocar en estilo solista, la interpretación puede ser más íntima. Ese era el efecto que quería lograr con esta reinterpretación del tema.

Hive Open Mic Week 145

Hi there, my fellow musicians and music lovers. We're back on the stage of #openmic with a new version of a previous cover. This was was made on week 70 if I'm not mistaken. I'm talking about Venezuelan waltz "Anhelante" by José "Pollo" Sifontes. This is a beautiful piece worth revisiting. It's also a nice choice to send to someone special.

The lyrics of this song tell about unrequited love. The idea of waiting for a love that might not even happen in life, but a long for the love that will always remain. It's an idea akin to the chivalrous love from Arthurian legends.

The idea that connects my cover with the theme of this week, Glory, is the feeling of victory sprouting from the fact of going one step ahead in our learning process as musicians. Making a soloist version of a song I had previously made with 4 instruments is quite an achievement. Glory comes for a musician who keeps pushing themselves to be better. It's a personal glory. I'm not saying this cover is better than the previous one, but by playing it soloist style, I can do other things. It is more of a intimate conversation. At least, that the effect I tried to achieve this time.
