afritunes week 98. Enjoying my Eggon song this beautiful Sunday.

Eggon people are one of the best people I know in Nasarawa state. When it comes to their culture, is one of the best in Nasarawa state. I have attended most traditional weddings done by the Eggon people and if you are privileged to come to such occasion you will fall in love with the Eggon people. They are very welcoming. A good and kind hearted people is all that I see in them.

I started living with the Eggon people since 1998. So, you see that even though if I am not an Eggon person I should have something to say about them which is what I am actually going today.

When I came to Nasarawa state I had no one to stay with. But as soon as I came in to the land and Eggon woman who never knew me from Adam allowed me to stay with them until I have gotten a place of my own. I stayed with them for about a year and half and moved out of the house. Up till this moment I still relate with her children as if they are my siblings. Back then I remember how her daughter shared her clothes with me because I had only little clothes with me. The woman who took me in is called Mama Akpnaga in Angwan ogba, Lafia Road, Akwanga, Nasarawa state of Nigeria. Though she is late now but I still visit the house and play around with her children in the absence of their mother.

The lyrics of the songs. The songs doesn't have much lyrics but is the meaning of the song that draw my attention to it.
The first one says - awontsema Yesu, Yesu, awotsema Yesu.

Meaning - you are worthy Jesus, you are worthy Jesus.

The second song says - anyamo ovey, anymo ba Yesu Kristi, anamo ovey.
Meaning - Thank you Jesus Christ.
I believe that we all need to thank God for life and health.
