Desde hace tiempo, tenía pensado subir a mi blog de #Hive covers de guitarra. De vez en cuando es bueno subir algún contenido diferente. La razón por la cual no lo había hecho aún es que siempre quise hacer algo de calidad. Ahora que tengo un teléfono que me permite grabar videos de buena resolución, me parece que puedo hacer mejores creaciones, dignas para subir a Hive. Aún no tengo un micrófono que me permita tener la versatilidad o la calidad de audio que me gustaría, pero creo que más adelante lo podría adquirir.

El hecho de no poseer micrófono, me obligó a realizar tomas de mi tocando la guitarra muy de cerca, es decir, con la idea de que el micrófono del teléfono estuviera lo más cerca posible del sonido que emite la guitarra. A pesar de todo, obtuve un sonido aceptable, el cual pude mejorar un poco más mediante ligeras ediciones en el programa Audacity (reduciendo el ruido y agregando ecualizador gráfico de graves y agudos).

No es lo mismo tocar la guitarra de manera usual que tocarla sabiendo que estás realizando una grabación y quieres que quede bien. Soy algo nuevo en esto de grabar covers, y aunque no me considero experto en la guitarra, creo que con la suficiente práctica puedo hacer algo decente. Confieso que fue un poco difícil la grabación, y para evitar errores por la “presión” de tocar bien, tuve que tocar varias partes de la canción por separado y luego las uní en el programa de edición (Filmora).

Silent Hill. La música de los juegos de antaño es especial...

Silent Hill es una saga de video juegos de terror que fue muy popular alrededor de los años 2000’, y lo sigue siendo hoy en día. Si hay algo que caracteriza a los videojuegos de antaño es que su música suele ser épica, memorable, especial. La canción que toco en este video es del videojuego Silent Hill 2, el cual salió a la luz en el año 2001, compuesta por el compositor por excelencia de la música de los juegos de Silent Hill: Akira Yamaoka.

La canción se llama Promise, perteneciente al album "Silent Hill 2 Original Soundtracks". Se trata de una canción instrumental, podría decirse que es una balada algo melancólica, quizás la canción más recordada de dicho videojuego. Se inspira en la promesa incumplida del personaje principal del juego, James, de llevar a su esposa, Mary, de nuevo al pueblo de Silent Hill.

Silent Hill es uno de los temas más icónicos del mundo del terror, horror, etc. Por lo que esta canción no es precisamente alegre o romántica, pero no deja de ser bastante hermosa, y si has jugado este videojuego, o al menos visto alguna de las películas, no puedes evitar imaginarte ese ambiente sombrío, oscuro, desesperanzador, de Silent Hill, cada vez que escuchas esta canción.

El video mostrado arriba es un cover subido a YouTube hace ya 15 años. Tiene 1.2 millones de vistas. Dicho cover también fue una de las inspiraciones para crear el mío. Si miras ese cover podrás notar que los autores quisieron agregar algunas escenas a manera de “ambientación” al video, las cuales se inspiran un poco en la temática de Silent Hill, siendo algo oscuras, sombrías o confusas.

Habiendo dicho todo lo anterior, también tuve la idea de agregar a mi cover cierta ambientación acorde con la “temática”. Mi idea no era precisamente copiar lo que se hizo en el cover de YouTube, pero como este videojuego es y fue muy especial para mí, no podía simplemente hacer un cover y ya, algo quería agregarle. Busqué en mi casa y entorno cercano sitios para hacer tomas en video, algunas no quedaron tan nítidas o perfectas, pero lo cierto es que así logran transmitir un poco la “esencia” del juego (si lo has jugado, entenderás).

Mi mamá @eve66 me ayudó también a agregar imágenes de creación digital inspiradas en Silent Hill. Ella se dedica a la creación de distintos tipos de arte digital, a través de la inteligencia artificial, así como collages mediante PhotoShop, etc. Ella creó estas dos imágenes utilizadas en el video a través de MidJourney, un bot de Discord que utiliza inteligencia artificial para crear imágenes únicas, tomando como referencia palabras a introducir. Algunas palabras de referencia fueron: “bosque embrujado misterioso”, “arte conceptual”, “silent hill”, etc.

I confess that the recording was a bit difficult, and to avoid mistakes due to the "pressure" of playing well, I had to play several parts of the song separately and then put them together in the editing program (Filmora).

I looked for places in my house and close environment to take video shots, some were not so sharp or perfect, but the truth is that they manage to convey a little of the "essence" of the game (if you've played it, you'll understand).

My mom @eve66 also helped me to add digital creation images inspired by Silent Hill. She's into creating different types of digital art, through artificial intelligence, as well as collages through PhotoShop, etc. She created these two images used in the video through MidJourney, a Discord bot that uses artificial intelligence to create unique images, taking as reference words to enter. Some reference words were: "mysterious haunted forest", "concept art", "silent hill", etc.
