Meta Takes Another Swing At AI Powered Charms by @triverse on 3Speak
Meta have recently announced another AI powered charm, this time much more tomagotchi in style than their previous attempt. I am not sure what anyone would use this for but it is coming in December...

Stop me if you've already heard about one of these little AI-powered accessories from Meta. But at Meta Connect 2026, they announced the Muse AI Power Charm. Now, if you've been around meta products for a while, you probably know this is not their first attempt at a small device like this. They apparently tried something called the Humane. AI pin, which they discontinued in early 2025. But this new, well, Meta Muse charm, is, to me, it looks like a Tomogachi. I mean, it looks like a Tomogachi. I mean, you can change its look and blah, blah, blah, you know. But ultimately, it looks like a camera on a Tomogachi. But apparently the selling point here is this is connected to meta's AI. Now, my question is, is just, society really need this? Yeah, I mean, it's, I don't know, it's just, I don't know. Shacknews.com points out that this is not the first meta used, you know, tried to make one of these small AI powered accessories. Like I said, they discontinued the Humane AI pin in 2025. According to mashable.com, Muse can be customized from the voice to the personality and likely more. And it's AI, so it's going to be, you know, listening to everything, it's, well, excuse me, it's meta, so it's going to be listening to everything around, even when you're, quote, unquote, not using it, because that would be one of the, you know, conditions to use it, or access the various things, is that you have to leave it, allow it to record and access, blah, blah, blah, blah, it's meta. This is not, I mean, if you're new to meta, yeah, it's basically 1984, except the only thing George Orwell got wrong is the fact that the people, the citizens, were buying the spying software and hardware, and bringing it around by choice, not by force, but by choice. Now, they... Mashable does go on to repeat meta's claims that the muse can set goals, run tasks in the background. My thing is, is what could it possibly be doing in the background? And more! Now, considering this is meta, there will be a free and paid subscription model available for everyone that has no problem paying for social media skins. I'm sorry, I mean the meta checkmark. Yay. Let me know in the comments below. Are you going to grab one of these when they ship before the holidays in December 2026? I really don't understand why you would want one, but let me know in the comments.
