@bengy: I make my students play scales in groups of 5, usually as a 2 plus 3 feeling. Or stick and circle/hop... I always dissuade them from counting anything!

@videoaddiction: I think that meeting a local drum teacher is a wise move as having someone guide can do something for your playing.
