Grizzlies vs Warriors by @southgamer on 3Speak
It is the Grizzlies that got to feel the wrath of my 3 pointer ability. I did not hold back when I found out that my man Steph Curry is on leadersboard for the highest 3-point scored. This was enou...

when we come through with entire catalogs lighting up your memory. Your memory. Provide memorable moments, cone went searching through my mind every time someone said, remember me. Rap, got the timeline dream so you won't find mine on the bench where the games played. One player earned wings, so it's words sing from a bed in my heart with a pain lays. Grind them legs, they said, but you do it too much dumb knees cause a strike on them. Most won't listen to the proverb because they care too much about the button putting likes on them. Powder the green, but the flower from the funds in the seed that we water it. Thanks to you to cruise out in the league, because you know that we are what you need. Put the order in. Sometimes you got to make it about yourself. Bring the warrior out yourself. Let loose in the wild, don't doubt yourself. You can found a route yourself. Sometimes you got to make it about yourself. Bring the warrior out yourself. Yourself. Friends my mom and touring for months, I'm messy, but I've never been to Florida. No. Reporting you live and direct in the New Year that put out be torching you. Warren don't drive, but war eat. I already got rich in my body. Welcome to another Groundhog Day NBA game. Pretty interesting backcourt matchup here, Grant, with a lot of star power at the guard positions on both sides. And you know, traditionally, B.A., when big guys match up, it's all about the power. But this contest is about finesse. Who can outplay and outsmart the competition? The starters for the Golden State Warriors, the core of the Warriors' dynasty on the floor. Curry and Clay is the guards with Dremont at the four. Gary Payton, the second, is out there with Kavan Looney. Thompson finds Peyton, and here's Green from the Art. Always a nice way to start, makes his first one. Tough to contest that one, Draymond went right up into a one-piece shooting motion. Moran against Curry. Now here's Moran, tightly guarded. Wow. I'll tell you, such an advantage having a playmaker who can get up to the rim and finish. Now that is what every team wants. I'd like to see that assertiveness, especially from the guy who's going to orchestrate your offense. A few teams in the NBA take on the identity of their city, none more than the Memphis Grizzlies. Oh, so true. I mean, grit and grind is a way of life in Memphis, and the team embraces that mantra, playing with a swag. Here's Curry, after the basket by Memphis, past a green. Count that bucket. Green's got five. Jaymond Green's not going to let anyone slow him down. Terrific at completing that chance. First quarter, just over a minute and a half in. Morant, the pass to Aldama. Oh, it's blocked by Green. Down low, on the wing, Peyton. The three is up. Williams grabs the board. For Memphis, they've gone just two for four from the floor. Moran finds Bain. Now Jackson, over Green. The kickout to Williams. There's the three. Yes, and a nice assist from Jackson. Adding to his game over time. When Jackson spots his open teammates like this, the offense runs much smoother. From behind the arc, and the basket by Looney. And both teams running long-range plays that are working. Well, both of them looking towards the three -point line, and I like to see that, especially when the results are made buckets. Here's green. And he got the whistle on the way up, so he'll be headed to the line for a pair. Aaron Jackson picks one up. That's a good look at Pumpfake there from Draymond Green. The D needs to stay down. We want him shooting the ball, but good use of the tricks. Well, you look at Draymond's NBA career, such a staple of this Warriors team's run of success. Maybe in the way that he plays it gets overshadowed, because people don't recognize the true greatness and what he does defensively, but Draymond talks enough. You know to recognize just how much he means to this team and the way they've won championships around his demeanor. Now here's Curry. He's been an offensive weapon for them, scoring around 17 and a half points a game. Thompson's shot is off. And so it's Bain who brings up the ball for Memphis. Past to Clark. To the middle. Kicks it out to Jackson. Outside Bain. Here's Williams. Jackson for three. Rebounded by Green. Well, the D really getting away with one there. No one on him, and that's going to be good nine out of ten times. Bain against Thompson. Here's the three. Clark grabs the board. And he probably thought he was going to bury that one. And here's Moran. Outside. And it's cleared by Stefan Curry. The Warriors have gone just three for seven here at the start. Thompson finds Curry. Yes, and a nice assist from Thompson. That's tremendous balance. Steph's ability to keep his composure in that tough situation, work in a tight space. That's impressive. Now here's Moran. Coming off 41 points, last game out. Got it. Yeah, here's a list of things I don't want to do and right at the top is guard that guy. Back to Looney. And it's good. Two points. Looney's got five. Looney opens up the offense here. You're just getting some bonus points from him, and that's helping out when he knocks down Jayes. And the basket is good. pounding it inside early and often, setting a physical tone. The Warriors have gone five of nine from the floor. Here's Curry. Again, Golden State. Steph's willing to hurt you from the mid -range. Look, if you're going to be that open, he's going to take the shot. Eight-second difference between the shot clock and game clock. And here's Morant, outside, buries it from three. He's got seven. And the defense is really allowing them too much room on the perimeter. Thompson passes to Curry, three-pointer. That's the three ball to go. On another level, Curry is totally ready to duel this one out from the three-point line. Moran against Curry. The three is up. Go close through the first quarter. Warriors ahead, they lead. And getting it going again here in the second quarter. Fairly close game so far. And guys, let's get your take on the scoring breakdown for the Warriors. They've done a great job facilitating shooters. Their early game has seen a lot of hot passes and has kept the defense guessing as well. I like that they've also emphasized the three -point line. We've gained a good number from beyond the art this year. Jackson out there with Brandon Clark. Then it's Luke Kudard. Then there's Marcus Smart, and it's Jackson in it to five. That's the group for Memphis to kick off the second quarter. And there is a whistle. That goes on Tobias Harris. That's his first foul. There's Jackson with the three. But Jimski grabs the board. Golden State has gone three of six from deep so far. Wiggins outside. That drops, and it comes off an assist from Curry. Wiggins has gotten himself going here, his first point to the game on the deep ball. You talk about players that means so much to their team. Stefan Curry at the top of that list, Brent. Yeah, you just look at the numbers, B .A., they're staggering about... What happens when this team doesn't have Steph Curry on the floor? And really, Curry becomes the entirety of the way this offense works. A moment to hear from Ali LaForse. Brian, there's a youthful exuberance in the Grizzles locker room that some say more resembles a college team. Jaron Jackson Jr. said, quote, everybody listens to the same music, does the same things, watches the same stuff. We all vibe together, and we like hanging around each other, and it translates. Brian? Oh, you like that connection. Allie, thank you. Jackson gets the bucket. Second quarter of action, about a minute and a half play. Pass to Harris, fires from the wing, trained it for two points. The assist numbers certainly stand out. They've really emphasized ball movement here today. Jackson with a screen on Curry. Now here's Clark. Here's Jackson. It's not going to go for him. Golden State has gone four of eight from three, a nice percentage. And so the ball out of bounds, smart touches at last. I'll tell you what, they're really fortunate there. Those long bomb passes usually spell disaster, but they get away with one there. The Grizzlies making a switch here. The rabies checked in. Wiggins from long range. He's in his comfort zone, two for two to start this one. If Wiggins hits these three-point balls at a high clip, it'll become a much better player and more dangerous for this offense. Kinnard, outside. Pass to Jackson. Shutes over Wiggins. Jackson can't get it to go. He looked like he rushed it a bit. The defense wasn't terrible, but still, he's gotta knock that down. And so it's smart, who brings up the ball for the Grizzlies. Trailing by eight, here's the Ravia, and here's Jackson. He's defended by Looney. Jackson, the pass to Smart. Very pretty, Allie. and grant some players feel like certain officials have an out for them. Did you ever see any of that? You know what, B.A., the refs are human too. Yes, I did say that, but they're supposed to be impartial, so you go after them for a while, it's possible, they will hold a grudge. Back to Wiggins, takes the three, that drops, and it comes off an assist from Curry. Curry's got his third assist of the night. They're getting torched on the perimeter. Four of the last five buckets have been threes. Timeout called the Grizzlies. And the Warriors making a change here. All right, looking at the 2K leaderboard. These are the squads who bring it on defense. The blocks leaders. Memphis, number one. And what's been most impressive about this team is how intense they've been on a defense event. It's not just one or two guys getting blocks for them. It's been a team effort, which is why they lead the league in blocks per game. And Williams punches it home. Hey, without that screen, he doesn't get a clean look at the rim. Yeah, well, he settle for the layup when you can attack the rim and rise up like that. Thompson passes to Looney. And it's Bain with the rebound. Can't blame him. Just trying to take what the defense allows. And Brent, the offensive style of this Warriors team, they stand apart from the rest of the league. Well, it's that brim with her shooting that's just so elite B.A. That really sets them apart. They move the ball, they move themselves, but they can really shoot it. And when those shots are falling, this team is incredibly difficult to stop. Tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Memphis trailing here. Williams passes to Moran. 55 seconds left to play in the second quarter. And the reps are going to rule that unnecessary contact. That's a flagrant one foul. He might be lucky just to get a flagrant one there. Lots of contact on that play, and the officials could have gone with a more severe call. Well, he better be on his best behavior from this point forward. One more flagrant of any kind, and he's out of this game. The Ravius checked in for Memphis. 51 seconds left to play in the second quarter. Looney against Moran. Here's Aldama. Oh, no good. Had a chance to take the lead. Golden State has gone three of six from outside in the second quarter. Pass to Potimski. For three, Grizzlies with the rebound. They're looking for a little bit of redemption in this one after the loss to them here last time. Yeah, I think they'd like to forget that game. You usually want to find some teaching moments, but in this case, it might be best to just destroy the tape. Yeah, and quick. Like as quick as possible, that was a dismal showing, especially for them at the offensive end. Beyond the arc, and Moran clears the board. No good on the shot. It's been all about Andrew Wiggins for the Warriors. He's found his range hitting three triples in the quarter. Now a minute to check in with Ali LaForce. Ali, as always, thank you. We'll be right back to begin the third quarter right after this. And we... You love what their second unit has done, major, major contributions offensively. I just wonder if they can keep it up. All right, and now time to give... Glad you could join us. Second half of basketball is upon us, and we may be in for an exciting finish, based on how close of a game we've seen so far. How about Andrew Wiggins? Man, is he playing well? I like how they control the tempo and play to his strengths. Yeah, this is showing that they're not gonna play at anybody else's pace, but their own. Kick it off the second half, here's Steve Curse 5. The core of the Warriors Dynasty on the floor. Curry and Clay is the guards with Draymond and 4. Kavon Looney is out there with Gary Peyton the second. Now, Draymond Green patient enough to know when his teammates are running around. At some point, one's gonna break open, then he finds him. The three from Bain. He can't get that one to fall. Golden State has gone 7 to 15 from distance in this game. You know, Brent, we always hear Looney's teammates talk about his value to the team. How about the dirty work that he does on a nightly basis? Rebound, setting screens, setting guys up with some pretty good passing because he's so familiar with the offense. This guy... is in a perfect role with this squad. And from the sideline, let's catch up with Ali. Well, Brian, durability is a focus for John Moran. He said, quote, the number one thing is being available, working on my body to get stronger and on the court being way more consistent with my shooting, so I don't have to go back to the rack, absorb all that contact, and hit the floor every single time. Brian? Yeah, that makes sense. Thank you, Allie, to the pain. and the dunk by Jackson. The way Morant sets up his teammates is as good as any guard in this league. And the Warriors call time here. When one of these guys gets to the line, you can chalk up the points. Here are your top free-throw shooters over the past month. Stefan Curry, number one. And over this stretch, his foul shooting has been exceptional. You could tell he was enjoying every single trip to the line. Out to Thompson, from downtown, and that one's good. And Green with the assist. Green's got three assists now in this one. Outside Bain. quarter of play with just over one and a half minutes gone by. Chalk up too there. Defensively, you can't afford to get stuck on the pick. That's one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. Man, they're having a hard time defending the triple. That's three in a row. Pass to Aldama. Outside Bain, three-pointer. They grab their own miss. Moran. Curry with some nice deed. He's so good at getting to the rim, maybe tries to get a little bit too cute with that one. I thought he lay it straight up and in. He can really read the floor. Precision pass in rhythm. Memphis is gone over two from outside here on the third. From deep, Moran. Oh, Moran sinks the triple. In tearing them to shreds tonight. You know, when a player as versatile as Moran starts going on, look out. Pass to green. Peyton with it, let's go with a three, and the Warriors with another three. They've been pretty lax with their perimeter defense, giving up a lot of three-pointers. Moran against Curry. Right side Moran. And it's Moran, again missing. Hey, sometimes the best looks don't equate to points. To the inside. Oh, Clay, takes the contact and finishes. And Thompson, a guy who has size and has strength, and has taken shots like that before. Hey, the pass to Jackson. And the dump by Jackson. Doing what he deficit, but it has to be a team effort. Looney getting downhill, and it's good. Assisting on the play was Curry. Curry's got four assists now tonight. And so it's Bain who brings up the ball for the Grizzlies. Nine-point game. Time out call, Memphis. And the Grizzlies with some changes. Clark has checked in for Jaron Jackson Jr. Jackson comes in for Aldama, and it's Marcus Smart in for Williams. A minute 15 left to play in the third. From Deep Moran. Warriors with the rebound. If you're getting cold in here, this is a tough one. Crucial that he starts to work a little harder for a higher percentage shot. And they've been able to maintain this lead despite his inconsistency from the field. Pass to Bain. 4-3. with the basket on the assist from Bain. Moran's got six in the quarter. The D has done a very poor job at contesting him from outside guys. He's tearing into them right now, and they cannot stop. And even from where we're sitting, you could clearly tell it was a foul. That free throws good from Thompson. Clay Thompson really one of the more pretty jump shots in the NBA. I hope kids are watching no wasted motion, incredible efficiency, and the mechanics really do set the gold standard. Jackson, he's checked in for Bain. Top of the key. Morant, no good. Golden State has gone, four of seven from three. A good percentage in the third quarter. Harris, outside. We've got a nine-second difference between the shot clock and game clock. Pure from three-point range. Their strategy has been pretty simple here in the second half, attacked from three-point range. Maybe trying to find a little bit more space and ball movement to get guys open at the three-point line. Now here's Moran, Adi's right on him. Fires for three, nails it from beyond the arc. Moran's got nine points here in the second half. These teams are finding the range, showing a lot of confidence. It seems like they're going to find out who can make the deepest threes. Right now, it's a shoot-up. Here's Jackson. He got it up in time, but it would not ball for them. And so it's the Golden State Warriors, finishing the quarter with an eight-point lead. They've been lights out from deep. And it's a big reason why they have a lead in this one. All right, stick around. We'll be right back. Steve Kerr with some words for his players. We're playing fine. Everything's good. The turnovers have been well-intentioned. We're not giving up fast break stuff. And this is it. Glad to have you along for this fourth quarter. Memphis trailing here. Miranda Smart in the backboard. Brandon Clark out there with Jackson. And it's Jackson in it to five. That's the lineup in the game for Memphis. Pass to Pachimski. Here's Jackson Davis. Curry with it, defended by Smart. Six on the shot clock. Here's Pachimski. Cobreant grabs a miss. chance at a three-point play. Yeah, teams try to get physical with Moran, but he shows exceptional body control off the contact. And a moment to look at the scoring approach in terms of where the points are coming from here for the Warriors. Well, they have owned the offensive perimeter throughout this game, finding lots of openings and turning them into big shots. And the other thing about their game tonight that they've done a terrific job of is just moving the basketball around. That's how you rack up as this. All right, let's get a report from Ali. Hey, guys, I had a chance to find out what Taylor Jenkins was discussing with his players. He told his guys to up their aggressiveness on the defensive end, saying this game is all about who can get stopped right now. I need you guys to bring some more energy on defense. That's how we'll get this win. Guys? Great work, Ali, thanks. Out left to the wing. Back to Wiggins. Pass to Pajimsky. Now here's Wiggins, defended by Jackson, now Harris, lets it go from deep, and the Warriors with another three. This speaks to how confident Tobias Harris is in his offensive game, ready to shoot as soon as that ball reaches it. Ooh, the Grizzlies with another miss. Ooh, he missed an easy chance to put some points on the board. He won't get a much better look at that kind of shot again here, probably tonight. Here's Pajemsky, defended by Smart, to the wing, right side. Shot from 16, and the Warriors tack on two more. He means business, unlikely to be a comeback on his watch. Well, he's grabbed a T in a blanket, because he's putting this one to bed. Two minutes gone by here in the fourth. A shot to stop the runs, and the duck by Jackson. I love the strength shown by Jackson there, refusing to let the defense have the last word.…
