Against Crystal Palace by @southgamer on 3Speak
The strength of my team is coming in at so point and with this game it just proved it different for me. So it becomes super challenging to keep going each and every time. But at this point I am add...

Well, I'm Peter Drury and I'm joined in the commentary box by the familiar figure of Jim Beglin. Thanks for that, Peter. Hi, everyone. The excitement is really picked up now, and I'm eager for the action to start. Well, it looks like a big game, sounds like a big game, everyone involved is absolutely up for it. If you have just joined, you have just missed the kickoff. and now they can spring out of defense. Now it's Kamada, he's got away. Threads one in. Munoz, there's a look to the possibilities, but in the end it's fruitless. It's a promising position. He's having a shot! That's just playing it safe and simple. Tries to pass it through. They've got to make this nice and quick. Whatever happens, that's the kind of movement which raises hope. He just refused to budge, and he's got his way. The defence just about came out on top, but they were certainly tested. That's positional goal, the utilisation of space. That is well clear. That has been slow wide. There's Laminia Malpito, the latest Spanish superstar. I'd like to see him get a lot of freedom on that right wing. And is that his best position? I'd say it so, Peter, with him being left-footed, he can cut inside, but he's such an all-round threat. He has that blistering pace that he can use to beat the best defenders, and it's very difficult to stop once he starts linking up with others once he's made that inside run. But it is clear to see that he is not at all happy with that. Well, that's down to a simple miscalculation. No more, no less. No, that's been intercepted. Oh, good. And he couldn't finish. Oh, it's very good running that. You're always going to have chances with that kind of movement. Good ball, good take. Caught offside that time. If you have just joined us, well, you've missed no goals. Simeone, Deveni. Crystal Palace are a team that's fond of the low block. They sure defend in numbers. Yeah, the whole point being to go back to front as quickly as possible, Peter. Of course, once the ball has been won. Yeah, balls over the top, long diagonals, that's the plan. Chance! Oh, split second reaction. I get Hauer. Clearly thought he had the beating of the keeper. Alexander Arnold, and it's Van Dyke. It's Camavinger. Simione. Agahawa, and he's there to clear it. Riyadh, DeVenny, Hughes, and he was quick to react, Simione, a lovely pass, and the shots! Well, the finish certainly didn't match the build -up. Agaa, deserves a lot of credit for his willingness to make those runs, the passers will always... have an option with him. Yamal, Velverdi, in towards the back stick. That's the keep his ball. Distributed tidily, and he's being shifted off it. Fernandez. He's only too happy to take that back. The goal here just before half-time could mean a great deal. Klein makes the interception. Deveni. It's a decent chance to counterattack. Fernandez. Now, can they get him away? And he's picked it up out wide, delivered with swing. and it's Munoz. A great feat done. Nicely weighted ball. Twills one in, brilliantly cut out. Fernandez. That's really well manoeuvred. Now it's Agahauer, looking to play him in. Shot could be... Big chance! That is decidedly lacking. What a chance, he probably had more time than he realized. And the referee has signal for half time. A decent enough half, but by the side, able to get on the score sheet. Time for some fresh ideas in the second period, perhaps. Any strong opinions on the first half? I think it's been a decent enough watch, despite the half, stagnating a little, if I can put it that way, Peter. We want to see some of that craft we got to see earlier on in the game. Everyone's going to have to find a way to just up the standard again. So we are still where we were at the beginning. It is nil-0 at the break. So straight in. Real chance! Riad gets it away. Loose pool now, and there's a chase on to retrieve it. It's out for a goal kick. A good looking ball. Simione receives it in a wide position. This is the time you need that pace. Cardines. Alexander Ronald, Yamal, shin to shin, bicep to bicep and he wins out. That's destined for the flank. Akehawa, and it's Caycedo. Can he finish? He thumps it clear. They've got to be quick moving this forward. Oh, just the keeper now. Bit of an appeal, but nothing doing. Time then for the first substitution of the game. Substitution in progress. Mbapapé. Nice interception, his positioning was spot on. Yil still. It needs a bit of life-injected. Great vision. Shoes. Well, probably an entirely one-sided game, still up for grabs. Nothing to show for all the pressure. That's the keeper's ball. But he was clearly disappointed with that pass. Well, everything up to the final pass looked decent. They just couldn't pick out that killer ball. Messy. So what can they make of this? Now, what about a counterattack? Chelsea do have options available on the bench if they want to go that way. That's a look and place it forward. Can he get on the end of this? That's a good ball out wide. And he's overcooked back. Fernandez, for Messi. Umpapé, and he's managed to get... Tries a shot! And a neat finish. And late in the day, a telling moment. Well, before we can even delve into the detail, the significance of taking the lead should be our initial reflection, and that's priceless. The movement's so precise, the finish, sumptuous. Yeah, when you're hit on the counterattack like that, it's like walking into a sucker punch, and they're dazed. Crystal Palace, choosing to make the first change. Well, it looks like they just want to introduce a new focal point to the attack. So the first goal of the game. Look, experience voices need to be heard now, along with good purpose and urgency, and they can get right back into this. Nicely aimed pass. I think the message here is quite clear, Peter, they won another one and will seemingly keep going until they get it. It's Cain! And that should get the dropped up. And it's Fernandez, Chelsea have reclaimed it, and if you have just joined us, still just one goal between them, 1-0 the score. And he's got away from it. Chance's terrific effort! Well, if ever you want to see a lesson in responding to a deficit, that's it. Their heads didn't drop, and now their chins are up. Satisfyingly simple. There's almost a sense of beauty to this. He did so well there attacking the ball the way he did. He got a strong forehead behind that one. And very quickly, the substitute made his mark. I think the manager's claiming an assist here. It's starting to look very interesting, this. Well, they just couldn't have responded any better, Peter. Yeah, there's the old cliche about how teams can lose focus after scoring, but you still have to take your chances. Brilliant. When it's delivered early like that, defenders just can't get themselves set. Not so much sophistication as doggedness and sheer bloody-mindedness. That's really good anticipation too, Peter, just instinctively knew where the ball would be and where he needed to put himself. Crystal Palace found away forcibly. Now they must hold out. Well, what an end to the game, Peter, but now comes the overwhelming question. How long is they're left, including stoppages? Kamada. That's well spotted. That vicious ball here. Lerma spots it and intercepts. Riad, Klein. It's an right-looking ball that. Mateta is flagged offside. Alexander Arnold. Alex Vald. And it's Volverde. That's at the end. Oh, plenty of talking points, and many of them, sadly, negative. This is clearly not how it was meant to go. The end of the game.
