▶️ Watch on 3Speak --- The Piston defense is strong and filled with power but it could not stop me. The player that impressed me the most is Andrew Wiggins with his number of assists. He was on fir...

It's NBA Basketball on 2K Sports. We're glad you could join us on this exciting... A moment now to look at the year -to-year scoring output and how it has been trending towards Tobias Harris. And looking at his offensive numbers from the past few years, it seems like teams around the league. They've kind of figured him out. He's having to work a lot harder for his points, and they haven't been coming nearly as easily as they used to. And a look at the starters for the Pistons. Guard spots filled by Cunningham and Ivy. Duren out there with Isaiah Stewart, and it's Thompson in at the three spot. And for Golden State, the championship core of the Warriors is out there. Curry and Thompson the back court, with Green working at Power Forward. Then it's Andrew Wiggins, and it's Jackson Davis in at the 5 down low. And Greg, with back-to-back games part of the schedule, how do teams feel getting into the latter part of that combo, like tonight? Well, these games can be especially taxing mentally and physically. At this point, it's a war of attrition and really who can survive the night. Outside, Green. Down low, out to Thompson from the ark. Rebound, Detroit. First quarter of play, one minute played. Pass to Ivy. Off target with his three. And it's Corey with the ball, bringing it up for the Golden State Warriors. Comingham with it, picked up by Thompson. Inside, cuts off the pass. Corner shot, good as the jump shot falls. Check out that a six. That's a pair of teammates that are clearly on the same page. The Pistons have gone, two or three here to start out the game. In GA, in your opinion, what's the main order of business when you look at the first year Pistons coaching staff? Kevin, for me, it's, they gotta clean up the foul. It's often a problem for young teams, but they have the quickness in size to stay in front of people and just force contested shots. Golden State moving the ball around, and Jackson Davis gets it to go. An unselfish wing who continues to evolve as a playmaker. Wiggins shows he's more than just the score. Cunningham kicks to Stewart. Ficious to Thompson. Cunningham for three. Detroit, no good that time either. The Warriors have gone three or four from the field to start out the game. Outside Curry. Back to Thompson. From past the yard, and there's Stephen Curry on the assist by Thompson. Quick off the draw. This is how fast Steph Curry can get it off. And the pistons decide to take their first time out right here. the Eastern Conference standings now that we're in the new year. You look at Detroit, down to the bottom of the conference, fans hope they can turn it around and show some improvement. Detroit's gone, 0 of 2 from deep here. The past to Duren. Will it go? And, oh, boy, a lot of contact there, but he gets the call and we'll shoot too. What I appreciated about Thompson is his recognition. He knows when to force the issue and when to pull back. The first free throw is good. He doesn't get the second one. This rookie Thompson is special, talented guard. He does a little bit of everything. Pass to Jackson Davis. Off target from three point rate. Pistons trailed by four. Pass to Stewart. Good, and the assist goes to Cunningham. Cunningham's got his third assist on the night. And so Currie will bring it up for the Warriors. Their last encounter was in Detroit where they were able to handle the Pistons. And it really was a difficult game for them in that previous match. Fortunately, they were able to just knock down their free throws. It's stolen by Green. And the call on the shot that sends him to the line. It goes on Jaden Ivy. The length of Thompson is deceptive. He uses it well to draw files inside. So it's both teams making substitutions here. Just under three and a half minutes gone here in the first quarter. Now, here's Ivy. Defense is right there. Down to five on the shot clock. No good from outside. Warriors beaten by six. Passes to Wiggins. And he banks in the layout. The ball movement on this run has been fantastic and is a big part of why they've been able to get these good looks. On Tekio passes to Ivor. The pass to Medu. And the layup fall. Nice speed from Jake. You can see him making strides as a playmaker. Golden State's gone, two or four from beyond the arc to start the game. For three, Harris, and the rebound goes to the piston. This game coming after a loss against the Jans. In the NBA, you've got to keep pace. It's a fast track out there. And I thought their lack of hustle defensively was the story of the game. You know, sometimes great skill can overcome a lack of intensity, but it's very rare. Detroit needs to get off a shot. Trains the three-pointer. Medus got five. The Warriors have gone six of nine, shooting it well. Wiggins finds Harris. At balls, nice speed that time from Wiggins. And you see there, Tobias with body control, to take the hit, still complete the play. Here's Ivy. No good with the way up. I'll tell you what, I think he thought that was going in. I sure did. Oh, we've seen some great shots in the first quarter. No shortage of offense. Warriors lead by five. It's the NBA on 2K Sports from San Francisco. again for tuning in. If you're just joining us, we've played through one quarter of action so far. Now let's take a moment to get your guys take on the scoring so far for the Warriors. Right now, it's their passing game, and it's been on point. Doing a great job of moving it around and getting the ball to their shooters. And also, they're doing something you don't see as much anymore, and that is converting time and time again from the mid-ranks. On the floor for Detroit. They got James Weissman, Meadow is out there with Kate Cunningham, and it's Fontecio in at the three. Cunningham for three, another three for Detroit. You could see it in his body language. Cunningham wanted to get those three points back. Smithy, even though the injuries limited Kate Cunningham in those first two seasons, his ceiling. has to remain very high. It is G.A. because of his basketball IQ and court vision. They are impressive for his age. He's got the size and athleticism, and plus he's dedicated on getting better. And it's Fontechio missing. Definitely a situation you want to make sure you don't give him too good of a look. And you could tell he thought that triple was going to fall. As to Medu, jacks up a three. The Warriors pull it in, fresh from a win against the Nuggets. And the difference in that one, the efficiency from Rames. They really focused on getting good looks. And if it wasn't there, each guy was willing to make the extra pass trust in his teammates. Listen, we know Wiseman has a nice outside game, but inside, there aren't too many guys who can match up with him physically. As to Pajemski, Hayton from outside. Good on the three-point shot. That's the pass you want, orchestrate the offense, creating for others. Kitts to Weissman. To the paint, and finished off by Weisman. A unique talent. Cunningham has the size of a wing and the skill of a point. Here's Curry coming off a solid outing against him. Dayton in the corner. On the wing, Harris. Three-pointer, Wiseman with the rebound. Pistons trailed by four. Crimes passes to Cunningham. Let's the three-fly, gets the three-pointer to fall. Cunningham's got his second bucket of the night. His second make from beyond the arc this quarter after hitting none in the first. In the corner, it's Herrits. Here's Pajemski, and they come right back with their own three-pointer. and the Warriors lead by four. Time call here. The pistons decide to talk it over. You've heard people say it's a make or miss league. Does that hold true? It seems so, right? Shooting percentages correlate more with winning than possession stats. It's clear, shot making has never been more valuable, but the ability to disrupt rhythm still plays a big role. Thompson, left side. He dishes it to Ivy. As to Stewart. On the wing, Thompson, at the Stewart, the three, sinks the three-pointer. Stewart's got his third bucket of the night. Great awareness by Thompson, wanting to find his open teammates whenever he can. Dayton outside, lets it go from deep. The shot, no good. and the rebound battle split evenly thus far. Ontecchio passes to Thompson. Now here's Hyvie. And no good had a chance to take the lead there. Thompson outside, pass to Jackson Davis. On the three off target. There is some defense for you. For someone who's as good at shooting the three ball as he is, you need a defender who's equally good at guarding against them. Thompson finds Stewart. Now, here's Jordan, covered by Wiggins. That's the kind of deed you need when he's got the ball near the hoop. They were all over. Golden State moving it around. No good from the wing. doesn't register as a block, but he did everything you want defending that shot. You know what he did? He timed it well and did a good job of contesting without committing the file. I tell you what, it's almost like stealing to watch how he plays the game from this scene. And Zoic Thompson with it, he'll bring it up for the Warriors. We're playing host to Toronto for the next one. Count it, good. Peyton's got five. It's an improving skill for Wiggins, moving the ball, but he's focused on improving that aspect of his skill set. To the inside, Duren, and Duren slams it in. And some hang time on the rim, puts a little cherry on the top of that slam. Well, those kind of displays of strength can get one team rolling. Wiggins outside. We've got 22 seconds left to play here in the second quarter. Peyton's shot is off. A Pistons leading. Ongekio passes to Ivan. Now, Stewart. Passes it to Duren. It's up a three, and that one released in time, but no good. And that's it for the first half of action. What's been a very close game here. Thank you, David, and we'll be back for the third quarter of action following half time. They're staring at a rough road ahead. They're staring at a rough road ahead, the kind that can break you down. But this is what separates good from great. And now, guys, let's talk about these warriors and this close game they find themselves in. To be honest, their bench has kept them in this, love it. Thanks for joining us, now. And we've got second half action for you. Thus far, a pretty evenly contested game. Got to like what Isaiah Stewart has done in this one, guys. Yeah, and just look at the numbers from the first half. He has been very efficient, and it's not like everything's been at the rim. There's been number of jump shots along the way. The championship four of the Warriors is out there. Curry and Thompson the backcourt, with green working it powerful. Then it's Wiggins, and it's Jackson Davis, in at the thigh of roaming the paint. That's the Warriors five. Cunningham on the wing, covered by Wiggins. Now here's Durek. He's guarded close. That's a two from Cunningham. And he connects with the jumper. Cunningham's got eight points. And they've had assists now in their last three basket. With a short break in the action, gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldrich. Thanks very much, everybody. Quentin Grimes is not just a three-and -lead guy. He's one of the best in the league at attacking the closeout. He says they know about my shooting, so that opens up my drive game. If I'm closing out hard, I can see if they're coming to my right side or my left side, it's read and react. Quick decisions. Kevin, my decision is to send it back to you. All right, D.A., that's why you're in the Hall of Fame. Thank you so much. This shot by Thompson, no good. Warriors leading by three. Dix it out to Wiggins. And another three for Golden State. The defense, a step slow, and you can see the results. And the pistons with possession. Following this game, they hit the road to challenge the Nuggets at Ball Arena in Denver. And that will conclude a four-game road trip. On the corner, and Thompson gets it to go in on the assist by Wiggins. Wiggins has got five assists tonight. Pistons trailed by eight. The pass to Durk to stop the run, and it's Curry with the rebound. Missed opportunity wide open for mid-range. He would love to get that one back. Green dishes to Thompson. Here's Jackson Davis. Ivey defending. They shot by Thompson, no good. But only the first miss of the second half. They've come out here with authority. Ivy passes to Duren. Shooting foul, as the whistle blows, he'll shoot two free throws. Bistons have shot two free throws, and they're one at two so far. No good. The Pistons making a change here. Grimes is checked in. So neither attempt will fall that time for. And it's Golden State's ball. Bringing it together. They've got an 11-2 run going. Here's Pachemski. Back to green, Golden State moving it around. Thompson from long range, hits it from three -point range. And now an 11-point warrior lead, distance have gone just one of their first four shots to fall since coming on the locker with a break. And now a timeout called by Detroit. Let's see if coach can get them back on the right track. Because right now, it feels like the pace is being dictated to them. They need to go back to plan their brand of basketball. Warriors, Heslaude. Ivy against Thompson. Here's Stewart and the dunk by Stewart. Great move by Isaiah Stewart to find a lane to the rim. So powerful. Green against Stewart. Here's Pachemski. And a miss there on the triple. And so it's Thompson with it, he'll bring it up for the Pistons. Nine-point game. Castas Stewart from deep. Good for the fifth time and five shots. He remains perfect. Stretching things out, Isaiah Stewart, proven. He's a modern bid with a three-point shot. Tobias Harris has checked in for Golden State, and Detroit with a change here, too. Iceman's checked in. And the Warriors decide to take their first time out here. In the third quarter with just over three and a half minutes off the clock. You know, the book on Ivy used to be sag off them and let him fire Steve. That is not the case any longer. Jane Ivy has a legitimate outside shot now, Kevin. He can lead on the mid-range and is more comfortable with the three has put in the work to improve his weaknesses. Count it, and the warrior lead has been cut down to seven on the bucket from Ivy. This is what's terrific about Jaden Ivy. He has the size to do damage in there. For three, Harris, that balls, ice feed that time from Wiggins. Wiggins has got his seventh assist in the game with that last one. Detroit's gone, one of three from downtown since halftime. Pass to Ivy. Here's Grimes, still without a basket. The shot by Alton. be no good. Their game plan needs to change if they're going to get out of this hole because he is just not there offensive. Thompson, a good finish at the rack off the slick feed. And defensively, they are on their heels every time the ball comes inside. Seven second difference shot in game clock. Pass to Pajemski. Stewart against Harris. Out three-pointer, Wiggins, rebounded by the Pistons. Weisman's got his fourth rebound in this one. Here's Ivy, the teardrop falls in. Ivy's got his third basket of the night right there. Sweet shot by Jayden Ivy using all of his finesse. And here's Harris from the yard, buries the long-range jumper. And the Warriors lead by nine. And they have been relentless from Deek, and you see the defense trying to react. but to no event. You know what, they talked about this at halftime, and they're doing a better job of creating space. And so it's the Golden State Warriors. And a worthy candidate tonight as we take a look at our state farm, assist of the game. And the definition of teamwork right there, guys. I mean, what great communication between them and what a beautiful feat. Fundamental basketball, your eyes up. the ball moving. We're going to keep the defense on his heels. The fourth quarter has arrived, so good to have you with us. On the court for the Pistons, Medu is out there with James Weissman. Then it's Kate Cunningham, and it's Fontecio in at the three spot. Warriors leading by nine, out of bounds. Detroit takes possession. And as we check out this year's contenders for the dunk contest, we get a look at some of the showmen, the best showman in the NBA. and with the names on that list, you know we're going to have a crazy competition this year. Take a look at Thompson. He's definitely got a shot of making it to the top four slots this year. We'll just have to see if he ends up moving up. Listen, I know this guy is hoping he gets the opportunity to be a part of it this year, and it would be a huge disappointment for him if he's not able to showcase some of those phenomenal dunking skills. And as always, we'll keep the updates coming in as we get closer to All-Star weekend. One thing we already know, there are some great players pulling in vote so far. Yeah, and I think it's safe to say that this is going to be one of those duck contests that everybody's going to be tuning into. And we've played through about a minute here in the fourth. Karas, his shot is good. Guys, he's been a one-man. Yeah, the defense has allowed him to get into a rhythm from there, and he's been relentless. Warriors leading by 10. And contact on the shot, so he'll be shooting free throws here. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for the Warren. Smart ball handling from them in this one, passing around to get ahead of the defense, and putting it in the hands of ready shooters. And on top of that, they've really been dialed in from VEE, just dropping triple after triple. Cunningham against Curry, three pointer, offensive rebound, here's Medu, it's tipped. Swiped it away. Fontecchio. Here's Cunningham, and it's flat, and they get it back. And that one's George Fontejo. If you came to watch a scoring battle, you're in the right place. Yeah, both teams trying to close out strong. These are the fireworks that fans came to see. And here's Harris from the arc. Sasser with the rebound. Pistons trailed by eight. Cunningham outside. From 13, it's hauled in by Harris. Harris has got four rebounds in this game. I mean, he's staying aggressive, but tried to regain his touch, but right now, he's hurting the team. They've given up a lot of three-pointers here today. And now I send it over to the sidelines and get a report from David Aldrin. Hey Kevin, here's what Monty Williams went over with his team during the timeout. Told his guys, focus up right now. Everybody needs to be on the same page out there. Let's go out there and take this game right now. Big words, guys. Thank you, David. And here's Curie, who brings it up for Golden State. They lead by 11, the largest margin of the game. Wiggins kicks to green. Here's Jackson Davis. Count the basket. Showing patience, taking time to read the defense, Draymond finds the open man. Cunningham against Wiggins. Passes it to Duren. Shooting in the game. Shoots, nails the baby hook. Great job executing the offense. That pass on time and on point. We've got 155 left in the fourth quarter. And we gotta take a second look to admire that outstanding block. And big defensive plays like that will help them stay in control of this one. Pistons trailed by 11. Now, here's Ivan. He kicks the gunning in. He's off the back rim, no good. He just doesn't look like himself this quarter. Something's missing. And it also shows you how difficult this game is. He's just a little bit off, but it can result in missing everything. Here's Stewart and the dunk by Stewart Group. It's an added bonus whenever Stewart scores like this, showing how explosive he can be. And here is Curry. quarter of this one. Curry through traffic, count it! Oh! Guys, I think this is a game they have to feel good about, as we wind through the final moments here, and what looks to be a solid win for the Warriors. It was like watching a three-point shooting contest tonight here. And they just didn't seem to let up, whether the last several shots went down or not, three after three. It just seemed…
